You never know. I don't think you can assume a kid who didn't make it elsewhere because he lacked drive wouldn't have found that drive if he had come here. These players are all still kids when they arrive on campus. They are far from finished products.

Could the Vols receive the final death blow to the program this weekend?

Accept for the fact he didn't come here because of those things

I agree with you but looking at his senior film at KY it looks like he got some bad coaching and the fact that he is still 360 is a shame. He would drop weight or he wouldnt be on the field at Bama.

Look at Ben Davis. This is his 3rd year on campus and no one has a clue what is going on here. I wonder if this is a health issue?

I feel you man, but that kid just came off like he would just quit if things got rough.

I'm not saying Matt Elam wouldn't have been a fat underachiever if he had come to Alabama. Odds are he probably would have. I'm just saying that there's a different environment at every college program, and we are talking about teenagers here, not adults. They are all still works in progress. Maybe a different environment would have yielded a different result for him from a personal development standpoint.

247 overrated the hell out of him and refused to admit they were wrong later in the cycle. Be was a niche player that fit 1 scheme, yet they didn't want to listen.
He did well at a camp, then boom top 25 player. He was never a dominant player, they wanted people to believe they uncovered this hidden gem.
Don't even think Bama offers him if he came around now...

quote:I think Bama's environment is why he didn't choose Bama. Bama requires a certain amount of self discipline on and off the field in all aspects. Bama has far, far more competition gunning for playing time as well so talent alone will not get you on the field, hell we see now that being better than the person in front of you won't get you on the field. At other programs that are hurting more for talent some players can be lazier and get by with other stuff, but not at Bama. Take Gary at Michigan. He wanted to play a position that he isn't great for, DE. Michigan appeased him and let him. He isn't exactly lighting it up and isn't truly contributing what he could be to the team if he played DT. Guys like that know they aren't going to get their way so they choose programs that will appease them in those regards.

Supposedly Elam has a standing offer to become a male model after college if the NFL doesn't work out.

Soft as a roll of Charmin, clueless, happy to be chasing splittail on campus using his Daddy's well earned reputation, etc. .........pick one.

Don’t know. I’m just guessing based off different stuff I read. I think if big bro stays, he goes to OSU. If not, he wants SEC. His DC at BTW is an influence as well, and from the SEC. Just my conclusions.
