Who would have thought, is pierce quick still a 5 star ?

Who would've thought you could get an answer to that question quicker by simply going to the first post in this thread and clicking on Pierce Quick's name to find out if he's still a five star?

We got three extremely talented guys starting and great talent on reserve and folks thinking about someone who might not qualify. Gattis will go get Fleming if it makes ya'll feel better.

It's one of the stranger melts that I've seen. We have the number 1 class in the country but we have some fans in a panic about a receiver who is a grade risk at a position we are stacked at and a QB that is an Auburn legacy. No one had a shot to sign Nix except for Auburn.
I try to be understanding with things, but this melt is flat out crazy and comes across as extremely spoiled

I thought I remember in the past we could only fill so many spots. There was a player a few years ago that wanted to be an EE and we would not let him come in for the spring. Can not remember if he went elsewhere and think he did.

I just remember issues with Dee Hart and IIRC correctly we lost out on Massington the WR because there was no EE spot.

I can't address those vague past scenarios your pointing to. I have no idea what Bama's numbers situations were back then. There also may have been NCAA Bylaws changes since then that are pertinent. Iirc, you had some incorrect notions about the counter rules for football players on non-football scholarships that you insisted were correct. I'm not trying to be an smartass, but I don't care to speculate about or discuss your notions about those past players' situations. I posted a link that maybe you should click on. It provides the NCAA Bylaws pertaining to signing and counter limits, as well as some other helpful info about them.

What ever happens to the two players we signed and enrolled that the NCAA totally fricked over and had to leave? One was a DL Alfy? And the other was a running back from maybe Vigor?

This is a board to share info and I asked you as the local guru here.

In reference to the players I mentioned you can google it and can even find post on this board discussing it back then. Not a notion but whatever

Jalston Fowler was the vigor rb. He was a beast for us. How can you forget him?

He was drafted in the 4th round. Unfortunately, Seattle cut him yesterday.

Alfy Hill ended up at a small school. Here's an article from me May...

Quarterback Phillip Sims and defensive end Alfy Hill, both former Winston-Salem State players, have signed rookie free-agent contracts with the Arizona Cardinals

Good for Phillip too. No clue if they made the team.

A Hill got the really short end of the stick. Signed and enrolled for summer. Passed his summer classes and then the NCAA came back and declared a online HS course he took not meeting a requirement even though his school offers many classes that way due to being underfunded.

It wasn't Jalston. It was Desherrius Flowers (class of 2015) the RB that came in Jan was all set and when Fall Camp started he was not qualified (just like Alfy) and Flowers went to JC. Enrolled in Jones Co JC after completing JC went to Grambling

You asked me how Bama's numbers affect how many EEs they can take. I answered you by explaining how the 25 signings limit, 25 initial counters limit, 85 total counters limit and Midyear Replacement rule affect EEs. I think I was pretty thorough and made it pretty clear that there's no special separate limitation on EEs except for EEs that are backcounted via the Midyear Replacement option.

Then you cited examples of past situations that you seemed to be saying don't fit with what I posted. But you didn't provide any details about the situations or what any of Bama's numbers were at the time. I responded that I can't assess those situations without all of those details and I also stated that pertinent rules could've changed since then.

Therefore, what happened back then with those players is actually irrelevant anyway. It has no affect on how many EEs Bama can take in the 2019 cycle. Now you sound like you feel I should've googled and researched and figured out all those past details and rules back then. Wtf?

Here's a simpler more direct answer to your original question: We can sign 25 guys in the 2019 class and all 25 of them can enroll as soon as they're eligible -- i.e., as soon as they're HS graduates and are academically qualified. If all 25 are eligible to enroll "early" during January though summer of the 2018-19 academic year, then they all can.

All of our 2018 class signees count as 2018-19 academic year signees and initial counters. All of them except Jordan Davis and Ale Kaho enrolled on scholarships "early" during Jan-July of the 2017-18 academic year.

The NCAA rules aren't designed to prevent the next academic year's signees and initial counters from enrolling "early" after the fall term and the prior football season are done. It's a good thing for them to enroll "early" and get acclimated to college life and a headstart on getting their college degrees.

No I asked if you knew since, you seem to stay updated, on how many EEs we could sign in this class.

I could care less about some NCAA rule. I completely understand EEs, initial counters, and transfers all depend on the 85 cap. Hence the one discussion we had on here before and I stated that J Parks situation to gray shirt had nothing to do with initial counters but the 85 hard cap. I also understand how EEs work in regards to back counting as an initial counter to a prior year class or counting towards the incoming class. As I also know there are times when it is not a simple as the rules you continue to reference.

But to my question it had nothing to do with the rules. It was a simple question do you know, and apparently not by given responses, how many can we bring in as EEs. Maybe when you joined this site 2 years ago you were unfamiliar about articles, reports, and information from insiders about the number of EEs. In the past and with multiple classes we have players that have wanted to EE but could not due to limitations on the roster(yes the 85). But we also had reports and people in the know that had the number we could EE whether there back counted or added to future class.

So my question is does anyone like maybe Boz know the magic number? In the past info would come out on how many spots would open up in January either due to players graduating, using up eligibility, transferring, or leaving for the pros. I raised the question regarding Diabate who seems could fill a need but is scheduled to be an EE but looking to go elsewhere. As we have top targets(probably ahead of Diabate) like Sanders, Hill, Webb, Thib, Dean, and a few others who are also scheduled to be EEs. If taking Diabate would prevent one of them from being an EE and not coming here may be the reason we are not pushing hard fro a player like Diabate.
