Where Alabama's 2019 commitments stand:
Pierce Quick, 5-star OT, Trussville, AL -- "I'm 100 percent committed to Alabama." Quick actively helps recruit and will be at Alabama's Junior Day on Feb. 24.
King Mwikuta, 4-star OLB, Lagrange, GA -- "I'm proud to be part of the Saban era and soon will be playing, and hopefully one day come back... knowing that I left something special at Bama." King will be at Alabama's Junior Day on Feb. 24.
Brandon Turnage, 4-star ATH, Oxford, MS -- “Everything, I love the campus...all the coaches, they’re really hard on their players. I saw that at camp. That played a major factor. I don’t want to be coached by a soft guy.”
Brendan Gant, 4-star S, Lakeland, FL -- "I feel good about my decision still. We still connect often and us commits are starting to build a relationship, especially Brandon Turnage and I."

Yes the 1/9 did reactivate and I believe it was 2014 when they deactivated again. I was deployed with them in 93 as part of the 13th MEU as we returned after the Battle of the Mog to provide support in the area.

Nakobe dean has to be at the top of our priority targets or not far down from. So far its looking pretty good
We're going to raid MS this year. I think we land Dean and Nathan Pickering soon. They are 2 studs that could very well contribute right away.

Where will Gunnell turn after decommitting from Texas A&M? | Rivals (segments)
Note: The article also discusses: Texas A&M, Arkansas, Arizona and Tennessee.
quote:
Even after Texas A&M made the decision to move on from Kevin Sumlin following last season, there wasn’t a strong expectation that 2019 quarterback commit Grant Gunnell would be inclined to de-commit from the Aggies. However, on Tuesday night, Gunnell did just that - even after a recent wave of positive recruiting momentum leading up to last week’s National Signing Day by Jimbo Fisher and the new staff in College Station.
As one of the top quarterbacks in the 2019 class, all eyes will be on his recruitment with what promises to be a busy spring for the Houston-area prospect. Here is a look at the schools that will push hardest for his next commitment as he gears up for his senior season...
ALABAMA -- The Crimson Tide may not have been consistently linked to Gunnell after coming through with an offer in May of last year, but seldom does a recruit not consider Alabama when it chooses to get involved. Former Aggies recruiting and special teams coordinator Jeff Banks is now in Tuscaloosa, and will likely try and capitalize on the prior relationship with the added swagger of being a part of a staff that comes off of winning yet another national championship.
The jury is still out on how the quarterback situation will shake out next season between Tua Tagaovailoa and Jalen Hurts, and Alabama didn’t sign a quarterback in its 2018 class. The ingredients for a strong sales pitch to Gunnell seem to be on the table, but the question is whether or not Alabama will choose to pursue it.

LSU may be a team to watch although one of their posters stated that he is a bit of a head case. Apparently according to their board said he left a 7v7 tournament in Houston. He just quit. They said his dad is a head case as well. IMO Bama needs to stay in Tyson and Taulia and call it a day. I would think the only concern is can you get both and which one do you want if that is not possible.

You know we won't do that lol

Q: What's worse than a head case QB?
A. A head case QB with a head case dad.
I agree. Get Paul & Taulia on board and let's ride.

Alabama recruiting question of the day: Tide’s chances at landing top 3 class in 2019
Expect Alabama to finish in the top 3 recruiting rankings on National Signing Day in 2019.
Expect Alabama to finish in the top 3 recruiting rankings on National Signing Day in 2019.
quote:
Alabama finished 7th in the recruiting rankings in the 2018 class, but expect the Crimson Tide to be back on top in 2019. SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner will answer the Recruiting Question of the Day each weekday. You can ask him your questions on Twitter or Facebook. Find our previous questions and answers here.
Just think about this for one second: Alabama’s Class of 2018 finished seventh in the recruiting rankings, according to the 247Sports composite. It was the lowest ranking in 11 years. ELEVEN YEARS! And it’s not even like being seventh in the rankings is terrible. You can win championships with a top-10 class.
But Alabama fans got accustomed to having the No. 1 class, which the Tide had for seven years in a row. I think the chances of the team getting back into the top 3 of the rankings for the 2019 class are excellent.
I think the biggest reason why Alabama dipped in the rankings in the past class is all of the Tide’s coaching changes finally caught up to the team. The Tide lost significant pieces to the coaching staff over the past few years, and the relationships several recruits had with Alabama were tied to some of those coaches. I also think the states of Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi being down in talent hurt the Tide, too.
Nick Saban combatted the loss of several assistants by hiring hungry assistants who are excellent recruiters in Josh Gattis, Jeff Banks, Karl Scott and Pete Golding. You can see a change already on Twitter. Gattis, Banks, Scott and Golding are active on Twitter. While that may not seem like a big deal to some, it is to recruits.
And as far as the talent in the three states mentioned above, all of them have more elite talent than last year’s class. Alabama only signed two in-state prospects in 2018. Expect that number to be at least over five in 2019.
Alabama didn’t sign any prospects from Mississippi and the team is already high on 5-star linebacker Nakobe Dean and 4-star defensive end Nathan Pickering. In Louisiana, Alabama will be a factor for 5-star defensive tackle Ishmael Sophser, 5-star cornerback Derek Stingley and 4-star running backs John Emery Jr. and Tyrion Davis.

Alabama is interested in adding a graduate transfer at more than just quarterback.
It's also possible the Crimson Tide could sign a grad transfer defensive lineman. And Preston Gordon from Rice is one of the names to keep an eye on.
Gordon, a three-year starter at defensive tackle for the Owls, left Rice in January and has had some preliminary contact with Alabama.
"If Alabama were interested, that's a top tier program and I would definitely be interested," Gordon told AL.com. "As a D-lineman, that's where it's at, so it would definitely be high, high interest."
The Tide is open to adding a grad transfer defensive lineman because of losing three of its top D-linemen from last season and because of only signing two defensive linemen in this year's recruiting class.
Coach Nick Saban mentioned at Alabama's National Signing Day press conference that the Tide will "continue to look and evaluate and see if there's somebody out there that can help us."
Gordon is a possibility.
The 6-foot-1, 280-pound Texas native posted 87 tackles, 17.5 stops for a loss and seven sacks the last three years at Rice, including 34 tackles, 4.5 stops for a loss and a sack in 12 games last season as a redshirt junior.
Gordon has visited Texas Tech and Kansas. There has also been communication with schools such as TCU, Tulane, Syracuse and Connecticut. And now Alabama.
"Of course, the chance to come in and play and fight for a starting spot (is important)," Gordon said. "Also, academically and an opportunity to push toward the NFL because, of course, I want that shot. Those are really the three main things for me."

Like the short stature to play inside. Wish he was closer to 300. Like Josh Chapman.

Some Alabama 2019 Quarterback Prospects
TDAlabama
quote:
Alabama did not land a scholarship quarterback in their 2018 recruiting class and it is easy to see why. Alabama has two quarterbacks, Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovoiloa, that will battle it out for the starting position on next season and neither of them are seniors. In a college football world where early playing time is crucial, this offer did not look very tempting to the top quarterbacks in the 2018 class.
The Crimson Tide is hoping that their luck is a little bit better in the 2019 recruiting cycle as they want and may need to land a high caliber athlete at the quarterback position. Considering the fact that Tagovailoa will be eligible for the draft and Hurts will be a senior once the 2019 class is enrolled in college; it will be in the Tide’s best interest to have a freshman on the roster working on learning their offense.
The Tide has offered some great 2019 quarterback prospects and it should be interesting to see how things shake out. Here is a quick look at some of Alabama’s Top 2019 QB targets:

Taulia Tagovailoa
Taulia is the younger brother of Alabama quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa. Although, his brother is a special talent; Taulia is pretty special himself. His game is quite similar to his brother as he is able to make plays on the run by using his elusiveness to keep plays alive. He has great vision and knows how to make plays when things break down. The Tagovailoa family moved to Alabama once Tua enrolled into the University of Alabama and all roads have seemed to point at him playing with his brother in Tuscaloosa. It could be interesting to see where he decides to go. It has been situations where brothers want to do their own thing and go completely different routes.

Paul Tyson
Tyson has a strong tie to The University of Alabama. He is the great-grandson of non-other than Paul Bear Bryant himself. But make no mistake, Tyson is looking to make his own legacy as he is one of the top pro-style quarterbacks in the nation. This guy has a rocket for an arm and knows how to use it to put the ball on the money with incredible accuracy. He is being highly recruited by some of the top schools in the nation. Notre Dame, Michigan and LSU are just a few of the many schools that have offered Tyson. Only time will tell whether he will take his talent to Tuscaloosa and give Alabama fans another reason to appreciate the Bryant Family.

quote:
Michael Johnson JR.
Johnson is the No.1 player in the state of Oregon and is the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class. Alabama will have to battle hard to get this guy down south to Tuscaloosa as several Pac-12 schools will use their close proximity pitches. Oregon will have the biggest advantage. Especially, considering that Johnson is from Eugene, Oregon. Johnson is extremely dangerous on his feet and can sling the ball with the best of them. Alabama would be lucky to have him.

Jayden Daniels
Daniels is a guy with a huge upside. He will have to put on some more weight before he is able to step on a college field as he is currently 6-feet-3-inches and 170 pounds, but he looks promising. He has great accuracy and can make passes on the run. His lengthy body helps him see the field a lot better than a shorter guy could. He also has great arm strength. His deep passes seem almost effortless. He could be a great fit for Alabama.

Here is some shite.
quote:
Nakobe Dean is one of the top targets for Alabama. Dean, a 5-star prospect from Horn Lake (Miss.) High School, told SEC Country that if he had to make a top 5 list, Alabama and LSU would be two schools that would be on the list.
“They’re the top 2 recruiting me harder compared to the other schools,” Dean said. “I definitely get a family feel every time I go there.”
Dean has visited Tuscaloosa several times already. On his most recent visit to Tuscaloosa earlier this month, Dean had a chance to talk with the head of the engineering department.
It was a brilliant recruiting tactic for Alabama to deploy because the biggest thing he’s looking for in a school is education.
“I’m always big on education and whether they have my major,” said Dean, who is considering a future in sports medicine and engineering. “Also, it’s how they make me feel. If I feel like home, then I love it. That’s going to be big.”
The nation’s No. 1 inside linebacker said he’s in touch with Alabama every single week. Dean said he feels like he has a strong relationship with the Tide staff.
Dean will sign with his school of choice during the early signing period and enroll at whichever college he chooses in January.
