SAN ANTONIO — For the second year in a row, both the East and the West squads practiced inside the Alamodome here at the All-American Bowl, allowing us to watch each team go through 1on1s, 7on7, scrimmages and more.

Here are the top performers from Tuesday — combining both squads — including an alpha dog who might be a household name very soon in the SEC. We're spotlighting the quarterback performances in a separate piece.

ALPHA DOG

It’s telling when a prospect can come into an All-American setting and dominate not just look better than his peers but significantly better. Alabama signee LINK ]Antonio Alfano (28) didn’t just look better than his peers — he was significantly better.

Alfano showed up lean and fit at 275 pounds but at that size, he spent most of Tuesday’s practice at defensive tackle and was strong enough to hold the point of attack. He flashed athleticism as a penetrator that was totally disruptive; offensive linemen couldn’t do anything with him. In the run game, Alfano created chaos and notched several tackles for loss. From a consistency and splash standpoint, nobody had a bigger impact than Alfano.

247Sports already considers Alfano as the No. 8 player in the class of 2019, much higher than his 247Sports Composite ranking. His standing could rise after this week.
