JAVIER MORTON, 4-STAR CB, STONE MOUNTAIN (GA) STEPHENSON

Height/Weight: 6-foot-1, 175 pounds

247 Composite: # 13 CB, # 140 player

Commitment date: 12/1/17

Morton is Alabama's longest-standing pledge, joining the class in December of 2017. The 4-star corner from Georgia has taken visits elsewhere, but has never shown any sort of indication as to reconsidering his decision to this point.

George, are you able to anchor threads on the Rant ?

Or did I hurt one of the Ga mods feelings ?

That thread had a lot left to give.

LINK ]Top uncommitted recruits in the 2019 class (247Sports | Dec 21)
quote:

The Early Signing Period is wrapping up on Friday and many of the nation's top prospects have already signed with their respective programs. But a number of blue chip recruits elected not to sign this week, so we’ve decided to check in on the top uncommitted prospects in the country.

Twenty-five of the top 250 prospects in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the class of 2019 have yet to announce where they will play in college, including five 5-star prospects and four of the top 10 players in the class.

With that in mind, let’s see where things stand in the recruitment of the top undecided prospects in the country coming out of the Early Signing Period, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

3) ISHMAEL SOPSHER | DT

High school: Amite (La.)

Measurables: 6-3.5 | 334

247Sports Composite: 5-star (0.9946), No. 9 Overall, No. 1 DT

Evaluation: Densely built defender with a powerful lower-half and a thick upper-half who brings mass without a lot of bad weight. Has natural strength and punch and uses his hands effectively when he wants to. Can flash suddenness and get-off for a bigger defender and has demonstrated instances of good lateral quickness. Two-gap ability. Overpowering on the high school level.

A high school defensive end that has been extremely productive and has an above average motor. Wins with size in high school and will need to develop a more well-rounded game for the next level including ability to retrace, change directions and play with consistent pad level and technique. May be close to his ceiling physically. Impact high level Power Five defender potential early round NFL Draft pick. – 247Sports Director of Scouting Barton Simmons

NFL Draft projection: Round 2-3 (Day 2)

Player comparison: John Jenkins | DT | New York Giants

247Sports Crystal Ball: LSU 62% | Alabama 33% | Undecided 5%
5-star DT Ishmael Sopsher 6-4/330 LA hudl

4) DARNELL WRIGHT | OT

High school: Huntington (W.V.)

Measurables: 6-6 | 320

247Sports Composite: 5-star (0.9944), No. 10 Overall, No. 1 OT

Evaluation: Carries 315 pounds like it is 285. Aggressive, long and moves well laterally. Strong lower body helps him recover quickly. Has the foot speed and mentality to play left tackle. Has nasty streak. He is athletic, bends well at the knees and is quick. Changes direction well and can combat speed and strength pass rushers. Runs well and gets to second level blocks quickly. Is fluid when he pulls. Competes hard. Needs to improve technique. Powerful initial punch but needs to be more consistent with hand placement. Dips head and gets caught off balance at times. Upper tier Power 5 multi-year starter with first-round potential. – 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn

NFL Draft projection: Second round

Player comparison: Terron Armstead | OT | New Orleans Saints

247Sports Crystal Ball: Tennessee 88% | Alabama 6% | Ohio State 6%
5-star OT Darnell Wright 6-6/320 WV hudl

8) HENRY TO'OTO'O | OLB

High school: De La Salle (Concord, CA)

Measurables: 6-2 | 230

247Sports Composite: 4-star (0.9800), No. 41 Overall, No. 2 OLB

Evaluation: Athletic linebacker who can play either inside or outside. Shows good fluidity and speed but also has power and strength. Quickly deciphers plays and has good gap integrity. Tremendous instincts, solid in pass coverage and playing in space but shines in getting to the quarterback in blitz situations and stuffing the run. Able to run with running backs, receivers and tight ends. Needs to work on tightening up and not get caught overpursuing so much and outrunning the play. Impact Power 5 prospect with first-round NFL draft potential. – 247Sports National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman

NFL Draft projection: Second round

Player comparison: Manti Te’o | LB | New Orleans Saints

247Sports Crystal Ball: Alabama 100%

9) KHRIS BOGLE | WDE

High school: Cardinal Gibbons, Ft Lauderdale, FL

Measurables: 6-4 | 215

247Sports Composite: 4-star (0.9701), No. 57 Overall, No. 3 WDE

Evaluation: Streamlined physique with exceptionally long arms that nearly hang to his knees. Slender build with room to pack on significant weight. Appears taller than he measures due to his length and build. Fluid speed rusher who uses his length and long stride to make plays in the backfield. Uses his range to track down plays in backside pursuit. Good athlete who should improve his explosion, strength and size with time in a college level strength and nutrition program.

Will need time early in his career as he’s underdeveloped physically. Needs to continue getting stronger, which will aid in setting the edge and holding his ground at the point of attack. Projects as a late-career Power 5 starter who should see considerable improvement over the course of his college career with his best football being played as an upperclassman. Should hear his name called on the second day of the NFL draft. – 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Charles Power

NFL Draft projection: 2-3 Round (Day 2)

Player comparison: Barkevious Mingo | OLB | Seattle Seahawks

247Sports Crystal Ball: Miami 88% | Tenn. 4% | Louisville 4% | Bama 4%
4-star OLB Khris Bogle 6-4/220 FL hudl

14) DEVONTA LEE | ATH

Measurables: 6-foot-2, 212 pounds

247Sports Composite: 4-star (0.9428), No. 130 overall prospect, No. 6 ATH

Evaluation: Lee is a physical, aggressive wide receiver. He has a great body and frame for a high school receiver and he could draw some attention as an H-Back or flex-out tight end due to his size and skill-set too. He has shown he will fight for the football and he will go up in coverage and make the tough catches. He can catch the ball across the middle or down the field. His route running needs improvement and he can improve his speed and explosiveness as well. He is an athlete who also plays basketball, so he has very good coordination and he will be one of the best in the state of Louisiana for 2019.

247Sports Crystal Ball: LSU 95% | Alabama 5%

High school: Williams Field (Gilbert, AZ)

Measurables: 6-1 | 180

247Sports Composite: 4-star (0.9352), No. 153 Overall, No. 18 CB

Evaluation: Lean and wiry frame. Looks strong at 180 pounds, and could add mass without sacrificing flexibility. Athletic in coverage, instinctive and aggressive on plays in front of him. Versatile player that can fill several spots in a secondary. Not afraid of one-on-one matchups. Highly competitive. Can cover chunks of yardage and react to the quarterback. Quickness to be very effective against slot receivers as nickel. Savvy enough to guard the perimeter against bigger wideouts. Needs to add size and become more durable. Could improve his tackling. Major potential to be multi-year Power 5 starter and future second-day NFL Draft selection.

19) MARCUS BANKS | CB

High school: Dekaney (Houston, Texas)

Measurables: 6-0 | 170

247Sports Composite: 4-star (0.9222), No. 189 Overall, No. 21 CB

Evaluation: Long cornerback prospect with good height and wingspan. Possesses the frame to be on the bigger end of the corner spectrum, though narrow through the core and could be somewhat limited in bulking potential. Lean and athletic, but maybe a bit high-cut. Plays with impressive athleticism that has also been shown in a combine testing environment. Great top-end speed that helps in vertical coverage and makeup speed. Above average fluidity for a taller, longer cover man.

Turns and locates the ball in the red zone. Instinctive corner with a feel for the position that bears out on tape. Must add bulk to improve overall strength and effectiveness when asked to press at the college level. At current size, could be overwhelmed by bigger, more physical receivers at the high-major level. Will need to clean up tackling technique and consistency. Potential to project to early rounds of NFL Draft. – 247Sports Midlands Region Recruiting Analyst Gabe Brooks

NFL Draft projection: 2-3 Round (Day 2)

Player comparison: William Jackson | CB | Cincinnati Bengals

247Sports Crystal Ball: Texas A&M 100%

22) DEONDRICK GLASS | RB

High school: Katy (Texas)

Measurables: 5-11 | 200

247Sports Composite: 4-star (0.9138), No. 227 Overall, No. 12 RB

Evaluation: Glass plays for a program that has been tradition-rich with producing D1-level running backs and he is next in line and may end up being the best of a strong bunch. He runs with a good center of gravity and balance and that makes him hard to easily knock off of his feet. He will make yardage after first contact. He can pick up the tough yardage in the middle of the field, but has the speed and power to make long-distance plays as well. – 247Sports Midlands Recruiting Analyst Gabe Brooks
