Im kinda over Sanders....I feel like he, just like Quay Walker, has looked for every reason possible not to come to Bama.

I always wonder if the coaches actually know with near 100% certainty if these kids will sign or not. Like if Dean calls Saban this morning and tells him he's signing on Wednesday, how sure is Nick that he's actually signing? Does he call the backup plans immediately and tell them they're out? Or does he not believe anything until he can put the signed fax under his pillow?

There are stories every year about kids who tell more than one coaching staff they are coming, whether it's being a shite head the way it sounds like Thibodeaux was or just a kid who has a hard time telling anyone no. Either way, I don't think any staff stops recruiting backup options until the bitter end.

I'm glad Sanders gave everyone a chance to realize he's gone before tomorrow. The slow, methodical pre melt should make it happening way more bearable.

I mean if Jacobs comes back and we get DJ Williams its not that big of a deal.

I appreciate your optimism and you might be right. That said, missing on a top ten player, #1 at their position still sucks when you consider Sanders was considered part of this class up until the last week. Yeah he decommitted but it was still assumed he'd end up at Alabama. Again, he still might but I'm glad most on here and elsewhere have at least come around to the fact that he's likely gone.

RB is one of those positions where the 15th best isn't really a lot different than the 2nd most years. It's a position dependent upon other positions. The 5* caliber players it is most important to sign are on defense, OL, and QB. You can just about plug and play WRs, TEs, and RBs if you have a great defense, OL, and QB.

I mean Jacobs was a 3* and he has been better than both Harris' IMO and they were both 5*

I would trade Trey Sanders this year if it means we get Zach Evans next year.

He's a beast

It appears those rumors of Nakobe Dean's mother loving Georgia may have been overblown. He told John Garcia this last night:

quote:

When asked about his mother's preference, it was an SEC West program.

"I think her favorite program is probably Auburn, but I don't know," Dean said. "I think my dad likes LSU."

Another swing and a miss by the Georgia "insiders."

Jacobs is the rare exception. Those who follow knew he wasn't a three star caliber player. Same could apply to DJ Williams.

You don't get Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and Auburn hot on your tail if you aren't good.

No doubt. The main issue we have with it is we'll have to deal with the spin machine tomorrow trying to make Trey Sanders and Clay Webb the story of the week while ignoring the Fields fiasco. I trust that the fine members of this board won't allow them to forget.

I agree and I hope it's given the staff time to really pitch that App State RB who I learned yesterday is actually a 6 star with a floor about equal to Sanders's ceiling.

Uh, who are "those who followed"?

Jacobs was found late as a three star and many didn't want him because of his rating ignoring his film.

EDIT: See the post above as an example. Just they did it about Jacobs.
