DJ Williams is now a 4-star on 247.

ETA: He is signing at 1:30 on Wednesday. That is a little more than an hour after Trey Sanders signs. He says he will sign with either Alabama, Georgia or Auburn.

That Bama/Clemson/UGA bump

He jumped from low 2000's recruit for the entire cycle to 600's November 30th when Michigan offered him to now in the top 300 12/17/2018...

I wish DJ would wait a little longer to sign. The kid is going to be a star somewhere.

On a lighter note Tigerpaw1 was talking about their O-line next year... Two grad transfers at tackle.

So AU actually got grad transfer Tommy Kennedy to visit right before the dead period & right after his OV to MIA. AU making a strong late push there more than likely because of the Tega news Get ready for starting OTs from UMass & Butler folks

If Sanders signs with Georgia at 1 o'clock, Williams will sign with us 30 minutes later IMO.

I know Auburn were the first big team to offer him, are we sure they aren't his backup choice? That sounds melty, but genuinely curious because I saw that Rusty said he expect Williams to sign with Auburn after Sanders signs with UGA.

Take this with a grain of salt, but nolacapstone is saying Ed Orgeron believes Nakobe Dean will sign with Alabama.

He has Nakobe Dean signing with Alabama at this time. His confidence in the pick is "Low."

He also predicted Trey Sanders to sign with Georgia with "Medium" confidence.

DJ Williams scouting report from 247:

quote:

Classic, thick and well-proportion running back build. Sudden runner with great lateral ability and balance through contact. Good, not great top-end speed with ability to make defenders miss in open field. Can play behind pads and use power and off-hand as weapon in traffic. Can play from depth due to considerable quarterback experience with good vision and ability to set up blocks. Accelerator, gets to top speed quickly. Decisive runner built for contact. Can carry heavy workload. Ability off the ball somewhat unknown, but has tools to impact the passing game and potentially return game. Eventually an impact player at high-end Power 5 level and future NFL draft pick, with early round upside.

Not a lot of film on Williams!
What are you guys view on the gap between Williams and Sanders?

update- just watched some film on Williams and Sanders.
I would take Williams as a nice consolation prize.
I think if neal was already signed we would not take the chance of losing williams.
Not saying he better than Sanders and I really think Williams wants Bama based on Jacobs success
and who I hope the staff sold him on being the next.

Incredible. One of the few times I've ever melted during recruiting. Still can't believe he went to frickin Michigan.

I get that Williams is a late find who a lot of teams view highly, but what happened here that he came from being basically an unranked player (2000's overall ranked) to people talking him up as on the level of a Sanders or Crouch?

His 247 scouting report is not that of a low 2/3 star running back
