Michigan assistant turning down Alabama job
By Matt Zenitz mzenitz@al.com
A Michigan assistant has turned down a position at Alabama.
Wolverines linebackers and special teams coach Chris Partridge was offered the Crimson Tide's inside linebacker coach job but has decided not to take it, according to a report from ESPN.
AL.com had reported earlier Friday that Partridge was a candidate for the job.
Partridge, a former New Jersey high school coach, has been at Michigan since 2015 and has been the team's linebackers and special teams coach the last two seasons.
The 37-year old was named National Recruiter of the Year by Scout in 2016 and by 247Sports last year.

I guess we will know where we stand after E Smith visits. If next weekend does not go well with the top DBs the following weekend I could see E Smith getting the green light to commit, which I assume is why he is not visiting next weekend.

Mods can we move the megathread to the top of the board please ?
Also, nearly half the first page is cluttered with stickied threads; is this necessary ? Asking for a friend, thanks.

My wife just about gave me a heart attack when she told me that "Tua's little brother was going to Tennessee." "What!!?" I said. "Yeah, he just tweeted it," she replied. (She doesn't follow him but we have a good friend on the Thompson coaching staff who had retweeted it).
I then looked at her phone. Not to worry, he only got an offer. The wife doesn't understand recruiting.

Too bad, Harbaugh's clock is ticking if he moves to 1-7 against rivals on that contract.

Why Doug Belk looks likely, they are circling Georgia area recruiters to replace Ansley.
He's a younger guy who can relate to recruits. Saban gave WVU a glowing recommendation of Belk...

Alabama has joined the raced for 2020 four-star receiver Dazalin Worsham on Friday, the Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) product reports on Twitter.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder adds the tender to a list of over a dozen others including Florida, Oregon, and Tennessee.
The Crystal Ball already favors Alabama at 100 percent for the talented in-state riser who is teammates with Tide offensive line commit Pierce Quick, quarterback target Paul Tyson, and 2020 cornerback Malachi Moore.
Worsham is rated the No. 10 receiver and the No. 46 overall player in the 2020 class per 247Sports.
On the season, Worsham caught 70 passes for 865 yards and nine touchdowns.

Just watched his tape and he looks really promising. I also like that Patterson at TCU was hard after him as he’s a great evaluator of defensive talent.
Also, FWIW, he makes a 35 yard field goal. Worth a look at 3:30 into Senior highlights. A small lineman does a taunting dance after the field goal.

I love the kids film and really could see the kid playing on either side of the ball as DB or WR.His finishing speed is the real deal and
already I can see him as a return man.
I am curious why Cory raymond and Arranda (LSU) did not at least offer ? when he now has a BAMA,TENN,MIZZO,MISS STATE sec offers .
I think he fills the void if we strike out on all of the 3 candidates at CB or WR. Yet with his size to speed ratio he could be big-time at safety or CB.

Supposedly they don't have room and have guys who are better...

Got me thinking if Hawaii may be of more emphasis now. If you get a player like Tua why not recruit Hawaii more?

How every Alabama football freshman played in 2017
The big story exiting the national title game was the major contribution from Alabama's true freshman. This, remember, was considered Nick Saban's best top-to-bottom recruiting classes in his time in Tuscaloosa. Ultimately, 17 saw playing time while nine redshirted.
There were 178 combined appearances, though only three starts. Let's take a look at how the 2017 Alabama signing class fared as true freshmen in the national championship season.
