American Heritage Kids to Announce Next Wednesday on ESPN
quote:
Patrick Surtain Jr. and Tyson Campbell will let the world know where they are going next Wednesday during an ESPN broadcast.
American Heritage athletic director Karen Sterns told 247Sports that the school while hold a National Signing Day ceremony at 9:30 a.m. ET for the two U.S. Army All-Americans. They will be joined on stage by Top100 defensive tackle Nesta Silvera, Top300 defensive end/linebacker Andrew Chatfield and others.
Surtain Jr. is believed to be down to LSU, Alabama, Clemson and Miami. He will spend the upcoming weekend in Coral Gables which is also the case with Campbell, who remains high on the Hurricanes and Georgia. Silvera is fresh off a trip to Tennessee and talking with Florida, but is believed to be solid on his pledge to UM. Chatfield on the other hand is considering Miami, Florida, Oklahoma and FSU. Some however think that the Gators hold the edge in the recruitment after he spent time in Gainesville although Mark Richt is looking to change that with his in-home visit this Wednesday.

Karl Dunbar is visiting Malik Langham today. Unless he decides to travel to Tuscaloosa between tomorrow or NSD this will be the last face to face contact our staff will have with him.

Yea when it said NPF to Michigan I chuckled

It is really embarrassing when a major recruiting service is making predictions like that.

TI (Rodney Orr) is basically saying everything that has been posted here from 247. They are more optimistic on Campbell. They state that no one really knows what is going to happen on the QB situation. They seem optimistic on NPF and Surtain.

Karl to Langham..........Doesn't matter where I was to be. We'll always be friends. You and me made friends right off the bat. Don't nobody ever change that. I kindly want to put my arm around you, then I'm gonna get up out of here and leave.

I mostly agree. Services are still very hit or miss on quarterbacks. But they are much more solid on linemen, probably due to the development quarterbacks typically have top go through to reach true 5 star potential. I read on here that a 3* is higher on Saban's board than a 5*, and i would rather have the 3* every time.
Larry Coker drug Miami down by using recruiting sites and targeting high 4 & 5 star players rather than doing personal evaluations. Worrying about a players ranking and not their ability to fit the scheme allowed Meyer to come in in 2005 and start grabbing great talent that would have been much harder to get had Coker not been incompetent.
Granted 2018 recruiting is much better than 2005 recruiting, but the sites still have a long way to go when comparing them to evaluators working for the universities. I think they still put too much stock in a player's measurables and how they do in camps.

It is Sean's altar. Talking about wanting a 3 star instead of a 5 star

What else would they have to go on though? I feel like 247 revolutionized the industry with the Composite rankings and they do a tremendous job at giving us an idea of what to expect. The individual teams should have to focus on scheme fits, program needs, and overall character.
Alot of times its character or outside concerns that can prevent the blue chippers from realizing their potential in college. Heck look at the nfl draft to see how inexact a science projecting talent can be.

It's a really good example of cherry picking players to help a narratives. 5 stars go to the NFL as a percentage much higher than 4 star, and same goes from 4 star to 3 star. Yeah, there have been 5 star busts. Yeah there have been 3 star gems. Yes, first round draft picks have been bust. You still have to work hard, and been in a system that helps you grow as a player. At the end of the day a 5 star is vastly more likely to be successful than a 3 star.
Can google it anywhere since a lot of sports news sites have reported on this, but I like this recent analysis. 65% of 5 stars go the NFL. That is a staggering percentage compared to 4 stars and 3 stars.

The only bit of truth to the opposition to this is if Saban offers you it means you are pretty good. Sometimes, like in the case of Moody, we need you for depth, but I'm sure he is still a solid player.
