LINK ]Nick Saban visits 5-star DL Aubrey Solomon as Signing Day nears (AL.com article w/more links)
quote:

With less than a week before National Signing Day, Alabama head coach Nick Saban has spent the week visiting some of his highest-rated targets.

Saban headed to Leesburg, Ga., on Thursday to see five-star defensive lineman Aubrey Solomon, a top target across the defensive line. He's expected to go in-home with Solomon and his family on Thursday night.

Solomon visited Alabama officially last fall. He's down to Alabama, USC, Michigan and Georgia. Jim Harbaugh, Michigan's head coach, went go-karting with Solomon last week.

Defensive line is a key area of need for Alabama over the last few days going into Signing Day. Alabama brought in junior college standout Isaiah Buggs earlier this month and has a commitment from Fayetteville, Ark., four-star Akial Byers, but he has academic concerns.

Saban visited James Clemens standout LaBryan Ray, another five-star recruit, earlier this week, and visited Monroe, La., four-star defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis on Wednesday. Mathis is hosting Ed Orgeron of LSU today.

Saban visited Sebastian, Fla., four-star end Jarez Parks last week.

So how does the blue shirt work? And can he still play in scholarship this season?

If a player hasn't Official Visited a school, he can be part of the team as a preferred walk-on and practice. He can play too if (a) he pays his own way for the 1st semester or (b) attrition frees up a scolly under the 85 cap, which can be given to him (after fall camp starts) and counted in the 25 cap of the next year.

Could mean on scholarship come the fall semester. I wouldn't necessarily tweet that out in detail

Lol. Fixed it. Thanks.

I had already fixed where the article says Solomon (instead of Saban) is visiting Aubrey Solomon...

smh

Apparently there is a rumor going around that Solomon may take an unofficial visit to Georgia this weekend.

I really hope he's not trolling us and has been a UGA lean for the last little while.

FWIW, USC coaches and insiders say he's headed to Bama.

Always thought this would be how it went. Hoping at the least, if he's not coming, he gives Saban enough time NOT to lose Mathis.

He's a traitor. He could have stayed home and been a leader, now he's just being a weak follower. Volunteer bait. Never come back home traitor!!!!

(I think I did that right)

Good pickup for them.

What the hell is going on with Tennessee though? They finally have elite talent in their state and three of the top four go to LSU and Clemson.

Butch has got to be on the hot seat.

It's clearly not Tennessee's fault, those guys just don't have enough chest to be leaders of their state school.

That's the only possible excuse for players not wanting to represent their state school. It can't be that there is something going on at that state school that makes kids want to get the hell out of there.
