We could end up with like 15 5-Stars (if at least 1 of the 4 major sites has a player as a 5-Star) when this class is all said and done lol

Walker Little or Jaelan Phillips will be #1.

A new #1 is coming from 247. Foster Sarell just got dropped to #8.

I figured that Walker Little would ultimately pass him up. He might be #1 now.

Well he doesn't post much so he might have missed it.

This could be Saban's highest-rated class.

I think we'll add these guys

Devonte Smith
Henry Ruggs
LaBryan Ray
Aubrey Solomon

And 2 or 3 of these guys

Phidarian Mathis
Jarez Parks
Todd Harris
Christopher Henderson

Stanford will have a very impressive class, even with smaller numbers.

I think there's a great chance we end up with at least 7 five stars from 247 (adding Ruggs, Smith, Ray) and a fair chance we end up with 8 if we can get Solomon but I have my doubts with him.

Ruggs, Smith, Jeudy, Shavers is a filthy receiver class

And don't forget that both Juco guys are 5*s on at least one of the sites.

247Sports’ final group of five-stars for the class of 2017 is locked and loaded.

While the final Top247 arrives Wednesday and position and state rankings will be updated in the coming days and weeks, the bar has been set with the five-stars in this class, including a new No. 1 player atop the list.

At 247Sports, we use the NFL Draft as the ultimate measure of accuracy in our high school football evaluations. To that end, we rank 32 five-stars every year to mirror the first round of the NFL Draft. Let’s get started ...

No. 1 Walker Little, OT, Bellaire (Texas) Episcopal

Recruitment: committed to Stanford

Movement: Up from No. 2

Simmons says: "This is the best offensive line prospect I've ever scouted. It took me a while to get to that realization but Little's performance at the Army Bowl sealed the deal for me."

No. 2 Jaelan Phillips, WDE, Redlands (Calif.) Redlands East Valley

Recruitment: committed to UCLA

Movement: Up from No. 10

Simmons says: "This is what the modern-day edge defender is supposed to look like. There's no system or package that a defensive coordinator can draw up that won't feature Phillips as a focal point. He can do everything."

No. 3 Alex Leatherwood, OT, Pensacola (Fla.) Washington

Recruitment: enrolled at Alabama

Movement: Up from No. 7

Simmons says: "He's big, he's mean, he's nasty and he looks like an Alabama upperclassman walking in the door down in Tuscaloosa. Leatherwood has gotten better every time we've seen him and he's ready to contribute in the SEC as a freshman."

No. 4 Chase Young, WDE, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic

Recruitment: committed to Ohio State

Movement: Up from No. 20

Simmons says: "As good as Ohio State is up front in 2017, it's going to be hard to keep this kid off the field. Nobody plays bigger along the defensive front than Chase Young and he's going to get so much better really quickly."

No. 5 Trey Smith, OT, Jackson (Tenn.) University School

Recuitment: enrolled at Tennessee

Movement: Steady at No. 5

Simmons says: "Trey Smith is going to start in Knoxville next year. I had to see him in the Under Armour Game to fully believe it but he's ready. I believe that because of the way I've watched him develop and because he's shown he loves to battle."

No. 6 A.J. Epenesa, SDE, Edwardsville (Ill.) Edwardsville

Recruitment: committed to Iowa

Movement: Steady at No. 6

Simmons says: "Of any prospect at the Army Bowl, Epenesa posed the biggest challenge for Walker Little. The two going at it was like flashing from a high school event to the Reese's Senior Bowl. He's an elite three-sport athlete that's yet to focus on football. He has no ceiling."

No. 7 Cam Akers, RB, Clinton (Miss.) High School

Recruitment: enrolled at Florida State

Movement: Down from No. 3

Simmons says: "Akers is one of the few backs in any class that can step in for Dalvin Cook without missing a beat. I think he truly has that kind of impact ability in Tallahassee. He'll be a starter and a strength on a national title contender. We had already made him the No. 1 RB above Najee Harris in December."

No. 8 Foster Sarell, OT, Graham (Wash.) Graham-Kapowsin

Recruitment: committed to Stanford

Movement: Down from No. 1

Simmons says: "He may not be the No. 1 player in the nation but he still has No. 1 player traits. Sarell got exposed some at the Army Bowl but after Mike Bloomgren gets ahold of him at Stanford, I still expect him to develop into one of the elite NFL prospects in this cycle."

No. 9 Najee Harris, RB, Antioch (Calif.) High School

Recruitment: enrolled at Alabama

Movement: Down from No. 4

Simmons says: "Harris is the next great running back in Alabama's long line of them. He's not quite as big or fast as Derrick Henry but he happens to be shiftier and more versatile."

No. 10 Baron Browning, OLB, Kennedale (Texas) High School

Recruitment: enrolled at Ohio State

Movement: Up from No. 11

Simmons says: "In a strong linebacker year, Browning set the bar. Just line up the traits you want in a linebacker in modern day college football and he checks every box. He's got length, speed, athleticism, smarts and violence on contact."

No. 11 K'Lavon Chaisson, WDE, Houston (Texas) North Shore

Recruitment: Texas is the favorite above LSU. Scheduled official visits to Texas, Colorado and USC remain.

Movement: Up from No. 90

Simmons says: "Arden Key and Brian Burns have shown us what can be done as a first-year pass-rush specialist and Chaisson has that kind of impact ability. He's not ready to be an every down player yet but he can get to the quarterback better than anyone in this class and that gets you to Sunday football."

No. 12 Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Grand Prairie (Texas) South Grand Prairie

Recruitment: enrolled at Ohio State

Movement: Up from No. 25

Simmons says: "Give me the 6-foot-1 cornerback with legit 4.4 speed and elite ball skills and I'll take my chances. Those physical traits are how Ohio State is just reloading in the secondary and why Okudah is good enough to compete for a starting job."

No. 13 Marlon Tuipulotu, DT, Independence (Ore.) Central

Recruitment: committed to Washington

Movement: Up from No. 64

Simmons says: "This kid is a quiet killer. He doesn't say much but he brutalizes people on the defensive interior. He's got big heavy hands, long arms, a wrestling background and five-star film."

No. 14 Jay Tufele, DT, South Jordan (Utah) Bingham

Recruitment: It looks like Utah is the team to beat but Ohio State is close behind and USC is hosting him on an official visit next weekend.

Movement: Up from No. 39

Simmons says: "No 2017 defensive lineman consistently performed at a higher level than Tufele. He missed a lot of his senior year due to injury but there was no rust at the Army Bowl where he was maybe the best defensive lineman there."

No. 15 LaBryan Ray, SDE, Madison (Ala.) James Clemens

Recruitment: Alabama is considered the favorite though Tennessee has been a strong contender. Visits to Tuscaloosa and Gainesville remain.

Movement: Up from No. 46

Simmons says: "There's some Jonathan Allen 'tough-guy' in Ray. He's got the same kind of versatility too. He can play every position along the defensive line and his senior film is some of the best in this cycle."
