He didn't have a good year on the field or in the classroom and put on some bad weight so we backed off. We didn't go inhome with him nor did we invite him to take an OV last weekend with his teammate Brandon Martin. That should tell you everything you need to know. And before anyone flips out about how if Bama wants him we should too, Bama has struck out in their Dline recruiting the past few cycles. Next year their second string backups will be guys like Johnny Dwight and OJ Smith. They're desperate. We on the other hand have cleaned up in DL recruiting. We don't need to take a risk like Buggs, they do. I expect us to finish with Marvin Wilson and Phidarian Mathis.
LSU didn't want him

The Miami insider put in a flip for Shaun Wade to Alabama

Ruggs took kickoff back 90+ yards in Ala-Miss all star game a few minutes ago! He is fast!

Damn. Who would have thought LSU had the best DL recruiting between the two of us when we have Daron Payne, Da'Shawn Hand, and Raekwon Davis starting next year. Also it can't be real helpful when a recruit asks, when's the last time y'all beat Alabama? You remember 9-6? Oh yeah you're talking about the same season they won the championship game against y'all. Y'all haven't won since then? shite

Seems the article I read said Buggs noshowed, quite different than this LSU dude is portraying.

Did you see who Jon Allen said that he thought would be the next superstar DL for Bama today (or yesterday maybe)? Quinnen Williams. Said he's been tearing it up in practice.
Rodney Orr also said he's been hearing this in recent weeks. Said a coach told him.
Here's the blurb from the article:
"Alabama senior DL Jonathan Allen has been a beast for the Crimson Tide in 2016 and had his efforts recognized on Thursday night when he won the Bednarik Trophy, given annually to the best defensive player in college football.
As Allen prepares to play on Sundays, the Crimson Tide will have a big hole to fill on their defensive line. However, Allen told AL.com he thinks the unit will be just fine, naming a freshman he thinks can become the Tide’s next star:
“Quinnen Williams,” Allen said confidently. “That’s the guy you need to know. He’s going to be a baller. He’s going to be a beast.”
Williams, a four-star defensive tackle from the 2016 recruiting class, has impressed Allen, who said the freshman works really hard in practice:
“Just tenacity,” Allen said. “Just toughness. Just gritty. Just mean. He’s going to be good.”
The best news for Alabama fans? Williams hasn’t played yet this season and is expected to redshirt. That means he could theoretically be in Tuscaloosa for four more years to anchor a talented Alabama defense."

DeAndre Brown
Checked his reel out thats a fair comparison.
I also watched one of the more recent jumbo WR's in the SEC HS film in DeRunnya Wilson who had right at 1,000 yards, and 10 TD's for Mississippi State sr. season, and he's nowhere near the player Shavers is out of HS IMO.
"He's every bit of 6-foot-6," his coach, Gregg Miller said.
"He's going to cause some problems, he really is, being 6-6," Miller said. "I'm not even sure the kid has shaved yet. He's got some growing to do. His frame is outstanding.
"He's put together so well. He's not gangly or storky. He's very smooth and he's fast and runs good routes."
He is so big you'd expect him to not be able to break ankles in the open field the way he does. If you watch his film he literally will plant a foot and cut similar to the way Amari Cooper would, but obviously not as fast.
Usually the recruiting world goes crazy about a WR this big that is as fast and elusive as Shavers appears to be. Really not sure why there is not more buzz around him. Not that being a top 15 WR in the nation is anything to be scoffed at, but all the other WR's this size, and this athletic seemed to be hyped more out of HS than Shavers has been.
I'm really eager to see what they say about him during the under armour week.

I know defense reigns in all star games, but Akers is being shut down today.

Recruiting is circular, analyst has gravitated to smaller quicker guys at WR.
There was a good 4-5 year where if you were 6-4 or taller, they'd rank you high. With a year like Julio, Green, and Brown all being 5* recruits, it started a trend. Then they just give guys like Kendall Kelly 4 stars because he was big.

Yeah. No way that Akers is better than Harris. Harris would be physically dominating this game. Akers is pretty small. Smaller than I thought. He looks like a smaller BJ Emmons.

Did Kendall Kelly ever play anywhere?

After moving to DB and whatever that "heat issue" was, he gave up football with that medical hardship.
Don't hear much about players being placed on hardship as much as they were before at Bama...

Brian Robinson is playing way better than Akers.

Brian Robinson just took over the game and put the game away for Alabama.

He is under valued by those on this board. He's no a bad RB and will only get better.

Very impressive TD run by Robinson.
Looks like the best RB of the day. Under-utilized.

6 out of the top 10 wide receivers in the nfl relative to receiving yards this season are 6'3 or taller.
8 out of the top 10 wide receivers in college ball relative to receiving yards are 6'1 or shorter.
I have no idea what this means.
