Henry Ruggs

Latest: Ruggs refuses to name a leader but it seems as though Alabama has the inside track. Florida and Florida State remain involved and he plans to take his time with a decision, but the in-state Tide will be hard to beat here. Other schools are selling playing time. The Tide is selling a chance to stay home and play for a title.

Prediction: Alabama has too much pull with Ruggs and in-state products like him to miss out here.

Nico Collins

Latest: Collins says Georgia is still in play and plans to visit Athens on Jan. 29. Michigan is still in pursuit of the four-star receiver, though. The in-state schools are involved to lesser extents, so it looks as though Michigan and Georgia could battle it out for Collins’ commitment.

Prediction: Collins has a longstanding relationship with the Michigan staff and has been enamored with the Wolverines for some time. Michigan is the slight favorite to land the Alabama-based star, but things could certainly change on that front.

Ryan Johnson

Latest: Stanford is the biggest threat to steal Johnson from the state of Alabama. Johnson has already visited Stanford once and will return for his official visit in the near future. Auburn will need to fight off the Cardinal to keep Johnson home.

Prediction: Auburn, but slightly. Johnson’s official visit to Stanford could easily swing this battle in favor of the Cardinal.

Looks like Kiffin will not be going to Houston. Applewhite was just hired.

Do we have any big DTs that want to come here? We really need to reload the interior.

Is Moses going to visit LSU this weekend? If so, that is not good.

He was supposed to visit USCw, but it doesn't look like he is going.

And so it happened.

Cam Akers has moved ahead of Najee Harris as the #1 ranked running back on 247Sports.

The first significant all-star evaluation opportunity of the post-season took place this week in Montgomery with the prestigious Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic getting underway. The Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, state championships around the country and the Under Armour and Army All-American Bowls are still to come.

Following this week's practice sessions, and in advance of Saturday's game, we've made several moves in the state rankings for both Alabama and Mississippi and several of those moves impact the national rankings.

He might also be getting LSU to pay for a trip home to see his family.

Cam Akers to the nation's top running back

This ranking bump is more a product of The Clinton (Miss.) High School back's body of work and state championship game showing than anything he did this week in practice. Akers jumps up to No. 1 in the country at running back, one spot above Najee Harris in the national rankings. The two will both be at the Army All-American Bowl in January competing side-by-side with an equal shot at finishing with that No. 1 ranking. LSU, Florida State, Tennessee and Ole Miss appear to be the top candidates in Akers' recruitment.

Ruggs is an elite receiver

Henry Ruggs III checked out. The basketball transplant is explosive, fluid, has ball skills and big play ability. He is now ranked inside the Top100 and is one of the top wide receivers in American according to 247Sports.

Auburn's linebackers are the truth

Tadarian Moultry continues his climb up the rankings following his dominant senior season and this week in Montgomery, he was the real deal. His enthusiasm is contagious, he can rush the passer effectively and he plays with violence and abandon in pursuit of the football. He'll be joined at Auburn by Kenney Britt who is the type of linebacker that gets better in pads. The two will be big-time hitters and tone setters on The Plains. Britt is up to a four-star and Moultry has moved into the national Top 50.

Stock up for Will Ignont

Ever since transferring out of IMG Academy, there have been some questions in recruiting circles about Ignont. Was he overrated? Is he an early name that hasn't developed? After this week, I think Ignont is one of the top linebackers in the country. His film is on point, he's extremely sudden and active on defense, he has pass-rush instincts off the edge. Tennessee is getting Ignont and I think he could be bringing a linebacking presence that the defense needs. He's sniffing the Top100 in the rankings now.

Apparently there is a rumor going around that Sarkisian is out on the road recruiting.

I hope he's not driving.
