Baron Browning on Alabama and commitment timeline:
He only has one OV scheduled so far and that's to Ohio State for their game against Michigan.
quote:
“Really my main recruiter is really coach (Lane) Kiffin the OC, but coach (Tosh) Lupoi hits me up all the time. I’d say my relationship with them is really good. My parents had a chance to meet coach Lupoi, just get a little feel for him. I feel real comfortable around them too. From coach (Jeremy) Pruitt to coach Lupoi, from coach (Nick) Saban, I just feel real comfortable with them. Of course it is Bama so the process is there. The head coach is important, but at the same time he is kind of irrelevant because it’s not like I’m going to be with him 24/7.”
quote:
“I’m supposed to commit on Nov. 29 on my dad’s birthday, but it depends on how my next four visits go and see where I’m at,” Browning said. “I might push that back to the Army Bowl. It just really depends.”

BOL reported that he is scheduled to OV at Bama for the Texas A&M game. Browning and Akers are both supposed to be visiting that weekend.

I skipped over the Michigan official, but this is what Browning told Bill Kurelic today:
quote:
Browning is supposed to visit Ohio State the weekend of Nov. 26 when the Buckeyes play Michigan. But who gets Browning’s other official visits?
“I couldn’t even tell you right now,” Browning said. “I mean there are so many schools I want to visit, but you only got four. That makes it tough.”
There are lots of schools still in the running for Browning’s services.
“Ohio State’s recruiting me, Michigan, Notre Dame, UCLA, USC, Florida State, Texas of course, TCU, and LSU, (Ala)Bama,” Browning said.

Ohio State has been getting some CBs for two defensive backs. I wonder if that has anything to do with Shaun Wade flipping?
One of them is Okudah, which isn't impacting Wade at all in the class. The other is for a safety in Bolden, who is a contingency to Wade flipping (a great contingency but yes apparently a backup only if Wade flips)

This is like picking who is hotter between Miss USA 2015 and Miss USA 2016. ESPN likes OSU more, Rivals likes Bama more, Scout likes OSU, and 247 composite has it close.
I think OSU's best 20 will be better than Bama's best 20 at the end, but it's splitting hairs (comparing 5*s to 5*s for example on the OLs)

We will probably find out in the playoffs in a few years, on who had the better 17 class.

Yeah, my bad on that TS... they have Browning visiting, but they didn't say it was an Official Visit for him.

The recruit with the quickest path to playing time from this year's Alabama class may be long snapper Thomas Fletcher.
Fletcher, now at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., made his official visit to Alabama over the weekend. He committed to Alabama in June and the early enrollee is primed to take over for departing senior Cole Mazza, who also was a scholarship signee.
It was Fletcher's second trip to an Alabama game. He saw the Crimson Tide play Middle Tennessee last year.
"It was fantastic, being under the lights and being Homecoming, the campus was packed," Fletcher said. "It was a lot of fun. There's really nothing like gameday in Tuscaloosa.
"My mom had not been to a game at Alabama. She came to a practice in the spring. Afterwards, she was like, 'I'm really happy with the decision you made and I'm real proud of you, that sort of stuff.' My dad has always been high on Alabama."
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Fletcher was hosted by punters Mike Bernier and J.K. Scott. He grew up in Vancouver, Wash., as a fan of Major League Soccer's Portland Timbers, but moved to Georgetown, Texas for his junior year. He transferred to the IMG Academy, which is filled with top players from around the country, in January.
"My blocking in the pro set punt has improved vastly since I started doing it since I got to IMG," Fletcher said. "It's the same stuff I'll do when I get to Alabama. I'm getting stronger day by day. It's kind of hard to get stronger during the season, but when we can get into the weight room, I try and do what I can.
"Conditioning-wise, I've gotten in much better shape with running during practice and running outside of weights, for this season and for getting ready for Alabama."
Fletcher has also taken on a key role in recruiting. He was pleased when five-star linebacker Dylan Moses committed to Alabama on Sunday.
"I've gotten to know Dylan pretty well," Fletcher said. "As great of a football player as he is, he really is a phenomenal dude. Character-wise, we're getting a huge pickup in Dylan. Obviously, athletically, he will be a huge asset for sure.
"I wasn't really surprised, but I was excited that everything went well for him and he made the decision he made and I'm really excited I'll get to play with him for the next few years."
He's also after Robert Beal, the nation's No. 38 prospect and a four-star defensive end from IMG Academy who is committed to Georgia. He also took an official visit to Alabama over the weekend.
"Regularly, I'll call his name and I've got my school ID on an Alabama lanyard and when he turns around, I'll throw it at him so he's forced to look at it," Fletcher said. "I talk to him about it all the time. I'm really excited about going there. I'd like to get as many guys from here there as I can, being as physically gifted as they are. They're really great guys as well as great athletes."
Fletcher is 100 percent to Alabama and said he hopes to make a return trip for the Iron Bowl.

Central-Phenix City linebacker Markail Benton still has a hefty to-do list for his senior season: Chase a state football championship, play in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic and return to the basketball court in pursuit of a hoops state title.
He's got another trip planned, too – to the Under Armor All-America Game in Orlando on Jan. 1. Benton, an Alabama commit and ranked No. 4 on the A-List, received his Under Armour All-America jersey this morning during an on-campus ceremony.
"This is something I never dreamed of," Benton said. "I'm very thankful for the opportunity I have."
Benton will see some familiar faces at the Under Armour game. James Clemens defensive lineman LaBryan Ray received his jersey last Friday, St. Paul's defensive lineman Ryan Johnson is set to receive his this Friday, and Madison Academy offensive lineman Austin Troxell was picked for the game but can't play because of a recent knee injury.
Benton has been busy the last week, helping the Red Devils earn a 43-24 victory over Enterprise last Friday, attending Alabama's homecoming victory over Kentucky on Saturday, learning Monday he's been selected to Alabama's all-star team for the December all-star game, and finally today's jersey presentation.
Benton is now scheduled to play in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic on Dec. 10, and the Under Armour game is set for Jan. 1.
"I'm going to keep working," he said of his all-star goals. "I've got to work to get better."
Benton said he will not enroll at Alabama in January, opting instead to stay at Central and play basketball. Central advanced to the 7A state semifinals last season.

What will Cam Akers look like as a running back? Everyone will find out in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.
Akers – the one-time Alabama commit and Mississippi’s No. 1 prospect – plays quarterback at Clinton (Miss.) High, but the 6-foot, 215-pounder was selected as a running back on Mississippi’s all-star roster, which was announced today. There are only three running backs, with Clinton’s Darius Mayberry, Akers’ teammate, as one of the three.
The 30th Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic is set for Dec. 10 at Montgomery's Cramton Bowl. Alabama released its roster Monday, led by five Alabama commitments, two Auburn commitments and two Florida commitments.
Akers committed to Alabama in August 2015, but then de-committed in March. He’s still a major target for Alabama, and his decision might not be known until National Signing Day. Akers is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 running back prospect, behind Alabama commit Najee Harris.

Akers is going to be unstoppable in that game.

Foster Sarell has changed his OV from the Auburn game to the A&M game. Again, that A&M weekend is going to be huge.

Kendall Randolph has accepted an invitation to play in the Army All-American Game.

When LSU had a five game win streak over Bama from 2003 - 2007, you know what you didn't see: 5ama or Ala5ama or some such shite. We also felt no need to antagonize M St with Mississ14i St or some such shite when we had that 14 game win streak over them from 2000 - 2013. Apparently, however, some Bama fans (and, oh yeah, you're real special because your mother shite you out within the confines of the Alabama state line) feel some primal need to act like fricking children because they're winning some ball games. You know what's worse than a sore loser? A fricking sore arse winner. I don't have a problem with coach Saban or the players for that matter. But, some of the Bama fans simply can't handle success and act like pricks because of it. It's sort of pathetic really. So, go ahead and act like you're personally actually doing something even though you're no doubt dumber than a bag of hammers and wouldn't recognize a fricking credit hour even if it bit you in the arse. Go ahead and shake your gay arse pompoms and keep wearing that shite eating grin because you're real special! Really!

Dude had the balls to mention "credit hours" somewhere in the midst of that grammatical nightmare.

We may not be letting Wills commit, but I can't confirm that for certain right now. Collins is down our board. Parks is Bama right now. UF could make a push, but they trail us right now.

Keep an eye on Stanford Samuels and Bama. I'm not sure what's going on with him and FSU, but it sounds like there might be something brewing. I don't have any details.
Also, as I've mentioned previously, we've made a move on Jacoby Stevens. I don't expect anything to happen until around the time for him to sign, though. And I also don't think they have to lose the Austin guy that's a staff recruiter for L5U us to land him as some have said. It could go either way down to the wire.
