It's weird. We are usually after at least 2-3 Mobile area prospects per class but I can't think of any that we are after at the moment.
I'm gonna have to go back through Waynesboro, MS, on my return trip so maybe I'll through some cash at Benito Jones.

Save your money. You can't compete with the tire man.

A note on Najee Harris from the USC camp:
quote:
Recruiting wrap: Harris is committed to Alabama.
Performance: Harris turned in a phenomenal performance and definitely got the treatment by USC's coaches because he's most likely the top prospect in California for the 2017 class. The early Alabama pledge covers so much ground so quickly he's through a drill or ripping through the line of scrimmage for a big gain. There have been early comparisons to Derrick Henry because of his size at 6-foot-2 and 222 pounds, but Harris is so much smoother and sudden at the same stage.

Another note about Najee Harris from the USC camp:
quote:
Najee Harris is a 2017 five-star running back from Antioch, Calif., that committed to Alabama shortly after visiting Tuscaloosa in April.
He camped at USC on Wednesday, but sources say he remains happily committed to the Crimson Tide despite the Trojans' coaches showing him a lot of attention during Rising Stars Camp.
Harris, one of the top offensive performers at the camp, even got some stuff from the security agents on the USC campus for showing up with an Alabama backpack. Explaining that it was an accident and he grabbed the wrong bag, it did not seem to stop the ribbing.

Recruiting wrap: Netori Johnson is committed to Alabama.
Performance: It is hard to believe Johnson is only entering his junior season. At 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds, the Alabama pledge is massive but moves so well for his size. The Cedar Grove standout has a barrel chest, is immovable and really attacks defensive linemen. For someone so big, Johnson is comfortable in his huge body and he even blocked downfield extraordinarily well.

Velus Jones:
I wonder if we will take another look at him since he is from Alabama.

Recruiting wrap: Jones is committed to USC.
Performance: The three-star receiver might be due for a bump in the rankings. When Jones wasn't out-jumping cornerbacks for throws down the sideline, he was putting moves on them and beating them inside for easy completions. His commitment to the Trojans this past spring came with little fanfare but given what Jones showed Wednesday on campus, assistant coach Tee Martin could be pulling off a major heist.
I wonder if we will take another look at him since he is from Alabama.

Velus talks about his commitment to USC:
quote:
One of the top receivers at the Rising Stars Camp was USC commit Velus Jones, who picked the Trojans in late April.
The Saraland, Ala., three-star prospect said he had a great time at USC, but that many other programs including Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, UCLA and California continue to pursue him.
Jones said he had a great time at USC and that he's "pretty solid (in his commitment), but you never know what could happen in the future."
More from Jones: "It's always good to get out and grind on the field. USC is a great place and it would be an honor to be a part of a great tradition and history like USC."

5* OT Willie Allen is making his 2nd visit to AU this month starting tomorrow. It will be a 3 day trip.
It looks like the Willie Allen and Bama ship has officially set sail. I hope we don't get screwed over by pursuing other tackles only to be left empty-handed at NSD.

Lyndell Wilson: Playing for his loved ones
HS Football HS Recruiting June 21, 2015
Lyndell Wilson is motivated. Not just by his love of football or a desire to be a great, but from a personal place. The five-star outside linebacker from Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama, is motivated by his grandmother.
“I do everything for her,” he said. “She always stayed on me when I was younger and made sure I was doing the right thing. Now that she passed away it, motivates me even more to be great.”
On the field, Wilson, a 6-foot-2-inch, 220 pounds, outside linebacker, has excelled at becoming a dominant pass rusher. He claims his greatest asset is his speed rush, which helped him put up staggering numbers last year. According to last season’s highlight tape, Wilson recorded 86 tackles, nine sacks, forced five fumbles and had two interceptions. Pass rushing is Wilson’s favorite part of the sport, he says.
“I like getting to the quarterback,” he said. “I just fire off the ball and get to him to the best of my ability.”
Wilson describes himself as a “big hitter” who “can cover” and “moves very well.” His biggest strength is his ability to attack, which he believes can be improved if he focuses on his pad level and pass rush moves. He also said that he wants to improve his footwork and his ability to drop back into coverage. Wilson said he is working on becoming a more vocal leader.
All of Wilson’s talents and drive have led to him become the number one outside linebacker in the country, according to 247 Sports. He has received offers from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Oregon and USC. Right now he doesn’t have any favorites; instead, Wilson, ”looks at all [his] school as if every one wants [him] to come there” so he ”takes everything in,” he said.
Despite not having any type of list, Wilson said that he wants the school he chooses to offer strong academics, playing time and “a bond between the players and coaches.” He plans to study either photography or sports management..
After a junior season in which his team went 9-3, the goal for next season is to win a state championship.
“I just feel like we have the most disciplined group that our coach has ever had. We can get it done if everybody can do their assignment,” he said.
Another stated side goal for Wilson is to break his school’s single season sack record. Although he is not sure exactly what the record is, he said that he “is just going to try [his] best to get at least 15 or 16 [sacks].”
Wilson said that he plans to wait until National Signing Day to reveal where he intends to play after next season.

Our top 3 OTs at this moment are
1)Greg Little
2)Kellen Diesch
3)Jean Delance
Landon Young would probably be 4th, but I don't know this for certain. Allen is well down the board.

Ben Davis visits Florida, will be back

Florida has hosted a bevy of premiere high school athletes this off-season, but not many as high profile as Ben Davis.
5-star Gordo (Ala.) linebacker Ben Davis visited Gainesville and the Florida football staff on Friday. He's ready to get back and take a longer look.

And since, according to one guy above, I apparently claim that we are going to sign everybody (since apparently that's my intention when I say that we have a "good chance" with about 8 defensive linemen on a list), let me just say that I'm not saying we will sign all three or any of these guys. I guess I need to put a disclaimer here on everything I post since saying we have a good chance at several prospects means I'm claiming we will sign them all, and therefore I'm a sunshine pumper.
So there's a little more sunshine that I'm shoving up the
's of everyone of you.
