Do we need another TE this class?

The staff wants more of a blocking TE in this class.

Jalen Thompson, three-star CB from St. Paul's Episcopal School in Mobile, commits to South Alabama over South Carolina.

Auburn is recruiting at a high level once again, as the Tigers are No. 6 in the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings.
Head coach Gus Malzahn and his coaching staff have done a great job on the recruiting trail, and landing the nation's No. 1 class next February is a realistic feat for them. For that goal to be met, Auburn is going to have make sure it secures commitments from several top-tier recruits.
Landing these five prospects would be a great start.

A 5-star defensive tackle from Alabama, Daron Payne is Auburn's top in-state target right now. He is a rock in the middle of the trenches who can clog holes and beat up offensive linemen at the point of attack.
Payne, who is 6'2" and 330 pounds, also has some quickness and explosiveness to his game. He's keen on Auburn, Texas and Alabama, says 247Sports.
If the Tigers wants the No. 1 class in the nation, then Payne is someone they must land.
On June 6, Payne told Rob Cassidy of Rivals.com (subscription required), "I've been to Auburn probably nine or 10 times and a whole bunch more at Alabama. I won't need to take officials there. I've been there enough to know."

Yep. We had to move Brandon Greene to TE last year and also had Fanning there for half of fall camp. We haven't signed a true blocking TE in forever which is a problem considering there are formations where we use 3 TEs,

The 3 freshmen that's impressing during summer workouts are Da'shawn Hand, Rashaan Evans, and Josh Frazier. Hand is in the 270-280 range with 10% body fat.

Helps with depth going forward too, Bama unloads a ton of TEs after the 2015 season. Leaving just Freitag and Hentges for 2016.
As you said, it's a problem for a team who runs multiple TE sets.
ETA: Based off the presumption Howard has good 2014 and 2015 seasons and leaves.

TE should be priority now.
