i hope drake can get his stuff together and stop the fumbles. he could be the best back we have had under saban, certainly the most explosive and dynamic runner, but you cant put the ball on the ground

No...he does not.
I was trying to be tactful. :p

he doesn't strike me as the type of academic achiever
Actually, from what i understand, academics have never really been Drake's problem. He's not likely to graduate early, but he's not an idiot.
He is enormously talented, tho, and I could see a scenario in which he leaves early.

Yeah he seemed like an intelligent kid from the recruiting interviews I saw. Seemed to have a good head on his shoulders which is why I've been surprised to see him in the doghouse on a few occasions.

For sure. By no means was I implying anything towards his intelligence when I said that he didnt seem like that type that would stick around, I just meant that he is really talented, and he probably is eager to get an opportunity to showcase his talents professionally.

@AndrewJBone: Spoke with someone very close to Tyler Carr. "It's a coin flip right now." #Alabama, #Auburn,
Could be the only time I pull for Auburn to beat Bama

Why is everyone so down on this Carr kid?
Posted on 6/17/14 at 3:28 pm to bamarep
I think he's a good prospect, but with the OL we took last class, the ones we have committed this class, and the limited spots remaining, I think the spot would be better filled with someone else

Speaking for myself here, but there is nothing on his film that impresses me. He's just a big kid. He's kind of slow, and I hate that we are recruiting him as a tackle.
I think part of my bias too might be that I really want Darryl Williams in this class instead. I know DW is a guard, but I don't see how Carr stays a tackle. Yes, Carr has improved at camps. But I don't want an "improved" guy. I want someone who is dominating the line of scrimmage and has a fierce attitude. In short, that is why I prefer Darryl Williams.

I didn't mean he was an idiot. I just know he's been in trouble for not doing what he was supposed to do in the classroom, so I don't see him as the type of person in line to graduate early.

As of today, a West Coast source close to the recruitment of QB Blake Barnett of Corona-Santiago, CA says that Alabama is in good position following Barnett's visit to Tuscaloosa last week. The 6-4, 200-pound Barnett was in town with his parents from Wednesday through noon on Saturday. As TI posted on Saturday morning, a source very close to Barnett told us that the Barnett's were blown away with every aspect of the visit. Barnett is expected to visit Oregon soon. He plans to make a decision within the next month. The source told TI this morning that he felt that Alabama had moved to the top of Barnett's list. Most have considered Barnett a lock for Oregon since his recent de-commitment from Notre Dame.
As for Waller, he also had an extremely good visit to UA. The 6-3, 190-pounder from Anaheim-Servite, CA and his mother arrived in Tuscaloosa last Tuesday night and stayed through Thursday. Waller has narrowed his choices down to Alabama, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Ohio State. He plans to visit Northwestern and Notre Dame at some point next week. He might also try to fit in a visit to Ohio State. Plans are still set for Waller to announce his decision on July 1.

Per BOL Johnny Dwight is good to go and will be on campus June 30th.

Johnny Dwight failed one section of the graduation exam but applied for a waiver that would allow him to enroll. He was granted that waiver:
quote:
"They gave me the waiver on Thursday. I move on campus June 30th. I was ready to go then, but the coaches told me I have to wait," said Dwight.

I think he was an underrated recruit. That film tho
You can tell by us having to fend off LSU at the end that Dwight was a major priority for our staff.

Yeah I think he'll be an ideal 5 tech guy in our system. Good size and athleticism

Barnett tidbits paraphrased from 247:
-his family has declined interviews after the Alabama visit.
-expected in Oregon on Thursday for a multi-day visit.
- sources believe Alabama pulled even with Oregon.
-Sources said that Bama "nailed" the visit.
-expected to make a decision shortly after the Oregon visit, but could postpone for a few weeks.

Hopkins, Oregon mod on 247, would not commit to whether or not he will keep his crystal ball pick. Says that even if he does change it, "it's not the end."
