The media perception that Alabama runs a very conservative offense seems to overcome any offensive success we have to prove otherwise. That seemingly works against us in recruiting QBs. It's the same way with recruiting defensive linemen for our 3-4. If they hear it enough times from several different people, they start to believe it.

But they are choosing some shite hole programs currently relative to ours.
Who are Texas Tech, Washington, Arkansas, Notre Dame, and USC right now compared to the program that just had the Heisman runner up at QB?

Other than Notre Dame, those were in-state programs for the kids choosing them. That's tough to overcome in any scenario. No different than Brodie Croyle choosing Alabama in 2001.

Except when it comes to us and QBs the scenario is almost always different. We were told in the 11 cycle that Alabama had to develop a QB under Saban first. Well we just did. Why are we the program that has to win a championship, then develop a guy, then jump through hoops to land the Blue Chip QB? Why shouldn't Tech have something more to prove? Or Arkansas that has lost the last two games to us 104-0?
Why is QB the only position we have precisely landed our top target once? (AJ). Sims is a toss up but I wanted Heaps more.

Again, those kids chose to stay home and play.

Damien Harris' mom says Mike Ferrell is full of shite, and that Michigan is his leader.
Dude loses more and more credibility by the cycle.

quote:why is that gut wrenching? you tend to be a little dramatic ive noticed. we have more qbs than we know what to do with on the roster, we have a monster of a QB from last class with better upside than anyone in the 2015 class already on campus and going through practice. how does a 2015 qb not signing with us change our qb equation in the slightest for the next 2 years at least? Cornwell is the future, the book is not closed on a guy like bateman (lots of arm talent, wheels, just hasnt put it together), and we have coker coming in to hopefully hold it down for 2 years until someone else is ready. And my hope is that someone is Cornwell. If he develops that natural ability (was one of the best HS qbs in the country despite not having played for long), athleticism, arm strength, the sky is the limit.
While we certainly don't need a QB this class is still gut wrenching to go from having Town committed to every one of the Top 15 Pro Style QBs choose everyone but us in the span of a few months.

We had to take Coker because McLeod Morris and Sims are useless. But somehow Coker himself changed the calculus for all these guys - Town and the rest. 2015 is considered the year of the QB and for us not to sign a single one of the guys we were top 3 or top 5 for is complete BS.
You have to admit with our recruiting like it is and regularly being in the Top 3 for 5 Star QBs every cycle since 07 that not landing one of them is peculiar. I mean its the only position where we haven't signed a 5 star guy under Saban. Well we will get the DT this year.

The only thing between Cornwell and a 5 star is a knee injury

2015 LB Justin Hilliard will arrive on Friday and leave Sunday.
His brother who is also his best friend plays for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Per 247, tOSU, Michigan, Iowa, and Notre Dame are currently in the best position to land him.
