Cool, then we can host World Cup games in 2026

Would be awesome, but we already didn't make the cut and I'm not sure if you could physically fit a wide enough field.

I'm glad they scrapped all the major changes, but how are these much less noticeable changes actually more expensive?

They seemed to have drastically reduced the scale of the glass exterior.

From Cecil....

3-4 years before we are even ready? That’s disappointing.

Just build a new arena FFS.

Start replacing bleachers with chair back seating, increase jumbotron size and start playing games on them, and make bathrooms and concessions nicer with TV's, etc and be done with it. Take the extra money and fix basketball facilities the right way.

They should skip all the other BS and just do what the Dolphins did to Joe Robbie-landshark-dolphin-hard Rock stadium.

More stadiums should install the overhangs covering the stands.

I don't think that will help attendance.

It won't. All the olds at the tailgate I usually go to are always complaining about the night games, and I've seen several of their tickets not get used because they can't sell them. Especially those 8 o'clock kickoffs.

Cutting the capacity and lowering ticket prices are the only two things I see that will help attendance. They've tried the latter in recent year for the non-conference games, but it hasn't really helped because a lot of Tide Pride season ticket holders don't attend, and can't sell those tickets for their cost.

And I think it's stupid we're going to sink more money into BDS when Coleman is 10+ years past its useful life.

We've thrown away a ton of tickets because we literally couldn't give them away.

Would be nice if they could enclose the whole stadium

This should be the first renovation to take place. Fans cook out there and many of the older fans can't tolerate it nearly as well. I don't know how much those overhangs help, but it can't make things worse.

Thank God! This will keep us above 100K and get rid of that potentially tacky looking screen and the corn hole
If they want to fill those seats in the upper deck of the south endzone, take the students out of the Southeast corner and sell those tickets to fans. People paying good money for seats aren't going to leave too early very often

(1) Students are the lifeblood of the University. If they leave early during a blowout, so be it. They (or their parents) are paying roughly 30K a year to go school there and can leave if they want... if you actually want to fix attendance problems, start by:

(2) Stop scheduling 3 garbage games a year. I gave up my Tide Pride season tickets this year, because I actually cannot give away those games. If I do sell them, I sell them at >50% loss, when you factor in the Tide Pride donation. The University then called and asked if I wanted to buy extra seats for the upcoming season.

The demand for seating at our max capacity seating configuration is over 100K is greatly exaggerated. With places like stubhub, the market for tickets is clearly visible to all buyers. Simple math shows buying on a per-game basis at a premium still saves money over the full-season spread.

I'd love to see the stadium cut to roughly 85-95K, improve concessions, remove all benches for seats, and add more premium options. Oh, and sell alcohol.

If you are going to charge NFL prices, you need to produce an NFL product.

I've been saying for years that Tide Pride creates a lot of artificial demand for tickets. Other than Saban's first few years, demand has been greatly exaggerated. I've never really had a problem finding good seats for a reasonable price the day of the game.

I honestly think the University doesn't really care about attendance. They pretty much sell every seat for every game, so they already have their money. If they really did care about attendance, they'd do away with Tide Pride, or at least allow Tide Pride donors to choose which games they want to tickets for instead of requiring them to buy season tickets. Of course if they did either of those, they don't have that guaranteed money for their budget.

With a 30,000 person waiting list, dont look for them to reduce the stadium size. Even if half of those 30,000 no longer want the tickets, there would be others that would ask for them if they knew they could order tickets. Probably that little fee to stay on the list is to find out who really wants tickets.
