So Antonio Alfano is about to have his third position coach at the collegiate level within a single year.
One more reason why I hate to see transfers within the first year of someone's collegiate career. Things can change quickly, and the situation a player thinks he's selecting may not exist for long.

LINK ]LSU hires Scott Linehan as passing game coordinator (Geaux247)
Tiger Rant thread about the hire

LSU has found a replacement for passing game coordinator Joe Brady.
With Brady jumping on his first on-field NFL coaching job as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, head coach Ed Orgeron has circled a longtime NFL coach as the next man up.
The Tigers have hired Scott Linehan to the offensive coaching staff, sources have confirmed with the Geaux247 staff. The Athletic's Bruce Feldman first reported the news.
Linehan most recently was the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys from 2015-18, and he was the team’s passing game coordinator in 2014. Linehan was head coach of the St. Louis Rams from 2006-08.
Linehan entered the coaching professions in 1987 as an offensive coordinator at Sunset High in Oregon, then made his way to Idaho as a wide receivers coach from 1989-90. After a stop at ULNV and a return to Idaho as offensive coordinator, Linehan landed his first big gig with the Washington Huskies as the team’s offensive coordinator in 1996. Over the next three seasons, he would serve as offensive coordinator and also coach wide receiver and quarterbacks.
Linehan had a three-year stop at Louisville as an offensive coordinator before entering the NFL ranks, first as an offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings in 2002. He then joined Nick Saban’s staff as offensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins in 2005 before becoming the head coach of the Rams.
Between college and NFL, Linehan has been an offensive coordinator with seven different teams between 1992 and 2018.
Linehan joins an LSU coaching staff that returns offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger, offensive line coach James Cregg, wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph and running backs coach Tommie Robinson.
Orgeron recently hired Bo Pelini away from Youngstown State to become the new defensive coordinator in place of Dave Aranda, who took the head coach job at Baylor. LSU returns defensive line coach Bill Johnson, cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond and safeties coach Bill Busch. Special teams coordinator Greg McMahon also remains on staff.
Stay tuned to Geaux247 and 247Sports for more on this breaking news.

LINK ]Another potential LSU staff change to monitor (Geaux247)
quote:
![]()
LSU could see more staff changes in the near future with the running backs coach position. Here's the latest that Geaux247 has picked up on more changes that could be on the way.
The contract for running backs coach Tommie Robinson does expire on March 1 and that's worth noting right off the bat. According to sources close to Robinson, he's expected to interview at South Carolina on Tuesday.
Will Muschamp has been in contact with Robinson and has him heavily in the mix for the running backs coach job.
As of right now, nothing is set in stone, but it does seem like things are trending towards Robinson moving on and the Gamecocks seem like a potential option for Robinson. This could be figured out in the next 24-48 hours, from what we're hearing.
A likely replacement for Robinson would be Kevin Faulk, as we've reported, who is already on staff and would bring a ton on and off the field to the position. The running backs we've talked with have raved about their relationship and what he's helped them with as director of player development.

And a new head coach now that Tucker is headed to Michigan State. Yikes.

This entire situation with Tucker looks bad.
Publicly turned down Michigan State with a tweet that’s still up.
Continued to reaffirm commitment to CU in radio interviews. Including yesterday.
Was at a donors event retiring a number of former CU great just hours before the news broke he was leaving.

Agreed on all of that, so I wonder what happened between then and now that enticed him to leave? Maybe it'll become more clear when salary details come out

According to reports, they more than doubled what he made at CU(2.7), doubled the salary pool for assistants, and similar increases for S&C staff.

I just don't get this one and done mentality on the part of HCs today. It's such an investment with assistant coaches and staff members and their families. There are 25 kids every year that are going to certain universities based on the suggestion of the HC. Then a first-year coach completely bails on these people after ONE season? Chasing a buck can get pretty cold-blooded.
Lane Kiffin, Willie Taggart, are recent examples of the one and done mentality. I wish Mel Tucker at least the same success.

Yep ...everybody would reject a 3 million dollar increase (per year) to stick with Colorado.

It was plenty good enough last year when he signed the contract for "multiple" years. How about investing in the program you agreed you would coach. It's called Loyalty and integrity to your coaches, staff, players, school.

Got to be tough living in Boulder at the foothills of the Rockies. Mel Tucker talked extensively about getting Colorado back to days of glory when he took the job. Mel Tucker is a cold-blooded mercenary. How about being a man of his word that last longer than 15 minutes. There's a new concept these days.

Apparently, Colorado isn't able or willing to pay Mel Tucker enough to keep him.

Is that the issue? Take a trip up to the Colorado football forum and get a feel of what losing their head coach means to their football program.
It's exactly how this Bama fan base would be feeling had Texas bought off our coach after the 2007 season.
Here's one:
I checked my phone as I was falling asleep last night and was bowled over by the news that Mel Tucker was leaving CU to take the head coaching gig at Michigan State.
A week ago, it was leaked that Mel Tucker was interviewing for the position at MSU – but ultimately he removed his name from consideration. He announced his choice via Tweet, he joined Rick George on a major booster tour along the California coast. He spent all of Tuesday on radio shows reiterating his vision for CU football. He spent Tuesday night with boosters in Boulder sharing and committing to the University.
Two hours later, Mel Tucker quit. Two hours later, Mel Tucker left his word at the door and screwed over a host of recruits who a mere seven days prior signed their National Letter of Intent to play football at the University of Colorado.
Mel Tucker killed my last vestige of hope and love for college athletics.

The contract Mel signed was his compensation. The Colorado football team was his investment. I'm thinking when he told Buff nation he was all in "heart and soul" just a couple of days ago, he was just kidding. Turns out his only investment was himself.

i'm thinking one of the most important things to come out is msu's willingness to invest in assistant coaches. really doesnt matter who the head coach is, if the boosters wont anty up for quality asst coaches.
