Obviously, this is Pete Golding's fault.

Just kidding, it is Cochran's fault.

ETA: For those unaware, Young wore #9 in high school.

How is wearing a number that a player had in high school someone's fault?

What I hope he "wears" is "defensive backs out".

Amari Cooper wasn't a QB.

But whatever. It's not like I'm superstitious or anything. It's just that the last time we had a starting QB who wore #9, that starting QB was named Freddie Kitchens. Bryce Young, barring something unforeseen, will eventually start at Alabama.

I just hope he's able to bring some good karma back to that jersey number as it pertains to the Alabama QB position.

I was unaware of anything bad related to that number at all.

And Freddie Kitchens was an average QB who played his arse off for Alabama and was a bad arse.

I think it was the expectations Kitchens brought with him. Dude was a baller but he was supposed to be better than what he ended up being. Forrest Davis, the first recruiting guru, rated him as one of the best QBs coming out of high school in 1993.

His senior season was also kind of a bummer. We went 4-7 that year.

Ah, I would never hear such things. Especially at that time due to being in the military.

I was very young and still in elementary school when Kitchens played at UA. However, when I was making my highlight videos I got to see the vast majority of games Kitchens started while in Tuscaloosa. The kid had an arm but his decision making and accuracy were suspect. Thankfully for him he engineered one of the great last-minute drives in Alabama Football history to beat Auburn in 1996. If he hadn't done that, everyone would have blamed him for the loss because he threw three big interceptions in that game that allowed Auburn to get back into it (we were up 17-0 at one point) and take the lead.
