Carlton,
Replacing Gus now at Auburn is second time.

Yea - their line situation on both sides is a problem. You can't go 2-3 years without any impact players on either line in this league, and that's where they are unless they have a miracle between now and signing day.
Something tells me that the Harsin hire isn't going to cause Leigh and JTT to warm up to Auburn. They're the only instant impact linemen left on the board and I think Leigh may have actually signed already.

This is the downside of Auburn refusing to know and accept their place.
Really irrational stuff ... the consequence of trying to be on par with a program they will never match.

He is their best on-paper hire since Dye, which is putrid for an SEC team

Meh hire! This guy is obviously a “yes man” that was willing to take all of the stipulations that their “other 15 first choices” shot down. Wouldn’t surprise me if anywhere from 3-5 of the previous staff are retained.

Just glad they didn't hire Jim Leonhard.

Yep, the word I heard was several of the other candidates were asked if they would keep some certain coaches on staff. That was the reason Napier, Clark and Brown all walked away. I don’t know if Harsin agreed (but I’d guess he did) or they gave up.
Very meh hire. Square peg, round hole. No ties to the area, used to being the 800 lb. gorilla in the MWC and now he’s just a middle of the pack program. And I think the SEC defenses will have a field day shutting down his mostly pro style offense. This was definitely an “oh shite” panic hire. I suspect Harsin’s high water mark will be 9-10 wins but mostly 6-7 win seasons. I can’t wait to see how much Harsin held them hostage for. What’s his pay and more importantly, what’s his buyout? Because in 4-5 years, Auburn is going to be writing another check.

Sources: Auburn is narrowing in on hiring Boise State's Bryan Harsin as its next head coach. A deal is expected soon.

Better than Steele, but honestly, that’s any other candidate. As a bama fan, Harsin fills me with zero concern.

I’m meh on the hire. Part of me is glad it wasn’t Steele or Clark, and the rest of me is skeptical of how he’s going to do until I see his staff... and even then I’m not getting hopes up until I see results.
With all that said, he will probably find some way to go undefeated in the first few years and then fall off the map and I will grow to hate him. It’s what we do

Pat Dye came from Wyoming
His time in WY isn’t why he got the AU job.

Uh, yeah he was not hired at AU based on his work at Wyoming.
