I wasn't born but some say Lee Roy Jordan's performance in the 1963 Orange Bowl was among the best defensive performances in Alabama history. Credited with 31 tackles in only 60 offensive plays for Oklahoma. Alabama shut out OU.

That's my cousin.

Courtney Upshaw vs Michigan State in the Capital One bowl. Don't know the stats but he was unblockable and watching it in the stadium I thought he killed a few of there players.

Kirk Cousins? I thought their QB was dead on a couple of different plays, but the two best things from that game....Mich St had 1st and goal ...and ended up punting. And then Saban shaking his head after lacy broke one late

ETA Mich St was Co Big 10 champs that year? And it wasn't as close as the score indicated

Derrick Henry against Auburn in 2015. 46 attempts. 271 yards. 1 TD. They couldn’t stop him, and he got better as the game went along.

They ended up running out of QBs. We hurt them all. They ended up having to put a TE at QB iirc.

Van Tiffin The Kick for me.
:06 left, runs out on the field at the 36. No time out called. Snap... Thump....
It’s good, It’s good, it’s good, It’s good.
Van Tiffin has won the ballgame!
Never forget that moment. Damn, it was beautiful!
He also made 3 more before The kick. Epic day for him

Shaun Alexander @ LSU in 1996

Anybody remember how many of those yards were in the 2nd half? Pretty sure he was 3rd string in that game.

David Palmer vs UT 1993. Wasn’t his best statistical game but everybody knew what we were going to do on that 2 pt conversion and they still couldn’t stop him.

Jay Barker against UGA in 94. He and Eric Zeier both were on fire that night. One of the best college football games I've ever been to.

My favorite game.

Bobby Humphrey

He could make the list several times. The 87 Penn State game was a good one, but I'd put Tennessee the year before ahead of it. Humphrey went 27 carries for 217 in that game.

That was probably the most enjoyable beatdown of Tennessee I've ever watched. Bama rushed for 457 yards and only attempted 6 passes. They literally ran the toss sweep for entire possessions and Tennessee couldn't stop it.

Kerry Goode, he had a 187 all purpose yards early in the 3rd, before that knee injury

still think about this game a lot, seeing him go down in the BC game and then he kind of jogs off to the sideline.

what could have been with this kid, he would have been special

I was sitting in the Superdome on the Penn State side, in a sea of blue and white, don't ask how I got there, and I was thinking, no way JoePa is dumb enough to try to run that ball into the endzone on 4th down. Oh yeah, he really was.

I want to say hsi first TD run was late in the first half. Maybe even on his first touch of the game.

He was 3rd string behind Dennis Riddle and Curtis Alexander, but Curtis didn't play much that game for some reason.

I was at that game, and I'll never forget how hyped BR was for that game. The front page headline for that morning's paper was "Biggest Game In Tiger Stadium History?" Tickets were going for well over $100(a lot at the time) before the game. LSU actually scored a TD on their opening drive and I thought the stadium was going to collapse it was so loud. It got called back on a penalty though, then they missed the FG attempt a few plays later. They never got close to scoring again.

The stats probably weren’t as gaudy, but Ingram against South Carolina in 2009 deserves mention. We basically put him at wildcat every snap and told him to run. Kept the undefeated season alive and entrenched him in the Heisman conversation.

In his autobiography, Shaun mentions that he had the flu all week leading up to that game and was barely able to play

I will go to my grave saying the 2010 Alabama Crimson Tide was the most talented, and easily the most underachieving team of the Saban era.

If Saban were to know the lessons he knows now, I'd imagine AJ McCarron would have been the starter during week 1, and no later than the South Carolina game. That offense would have been plainly, unstoppable.

I appreciate Greg McElroy for his time at Alabama, and no one can deny his performance in the 2009 SECCG. But McCarron is/was leaps and bounds better than Greg. Heck - I think the guy is the only remaining QB in his draft class still in the league.

I think about that drive all the time.

Nobody would ever do that today

I don’t think any major college football team will ever again need a game winning/sealing drive and say, “here’s the plan. we’re going to repeatedly run the same guy in the wildcat all the way down the field ok go get em.”

I never really noticed, but Ingram faked the sweep to Julio on every play on that drive. They were good fakes too.
