Smitty's historic day saturday got me thinking about other huge individual performances over the years

1. Shaun Alexander @ LSU in 1996. The redshirt freshman ran for 291 yards and 4 touchdowns in a blowout on the bayou. Alexander the Great averaged 14.6 yards per carry that night

2. Amari Cooper vs Auburn in 2014. 13 receptions for 224 yards and 3 touchdowns in an iron bowl shootout.

3. Rashad Johnson @ LSU in 2008. 3 interceptions and 1 TD in an overtime thriller that preserved an undefeated regular season

4. Demeco Ryans vs Arkansas in 2003. Demeco had 25 tackles in 81 razorback snaps in a losing effort.

5. Devonta Smith vs Ole Miss. This one is probably the top individual performance- but the opponent was just so bad.

I know there are some Derrick Thomas performances that make a list like this, but I wasn't alive to see him play in Crimson.

Yeah, forget his stats for the game, but Derrick Thomas pretty much beat Penn State on his own in 88. A few sacks, several hurries, and a safety in an 8-3 win.

Feel like Lacy in 2012 SECCG has to be on there somewhere... same with Ingram in 2009 SECCG.

Also, it will go untalked about forever, but AJ McCarron in 2013 Iron Bowl was legendary.

Jay Barker against UGA in 94. He and Eric Zeier both were on fire that night. One of the best college football games I've ever been to.

Could go in the "opponent stinks" category but Tua's performance against Oklahoma last year was basically perfect

24/27 (89%) (with 1 throw away and 1 drop)
318 yards
4 TD
0 INT
236.7 QB Rating

There's a lot of Honorable Mentions. How about OJ Howard vs Clemson, Derrick Henry @ A&M, Quinnen Williams @ LSU

IDK where it would ranked, but Eddie Jackson vs TAMU in 2015 was pretty special

Forgot that Thomas also had a huge game in 88 against Texas A&M. He had like 9 tackles for a loss, 4 sacks, a fumble recovery, and had the A&M Qb running for his life all night.

Miserable game. I got soaked in the storm before kickoff and then the team blew a 21 point lead and ended up losing in double overtime.

Great list, but obviously some recency bias there.

I wasn't born but some say Lee Roy Jordan's performance in the 1963 Orange Bowl was among the best defensive performances in Alabama history. Credited with 31 tackles in only 60 offensive plays for Oklahoma. Alabama shut out OU.

I wasn't born either, but Lee Roy Jordan's game would be tough to beat

Courtney Upshaw vs Michigan State in the Capital One bowl. Don't know the stats but he was unblockable and watching it in the stadium I thought he killed a few of there players.

I have never seen a more dominant performance before or since. DT literally took over the game and refused to allow PSU to do anything on offense. He was unblockable.
