Hofstra may be the highest rated 13 seed, but getting TTU as our 5 seed was a gift.

I decided to head to Tampa for the game, and if we win the second one.

They're still a a 13 seed from a low-major conference. If we lose, this year's team would be our biggest flop since the JD Davison year.

they were probably 2 or 3 with toppin. those last 3 losses were against tourney teams and beating duke and zona goes a long way.

Not a chance for a 2-seed and they would have had to improve the team they were at that point to get to a 3-seed. They were the 16th ranked team when Toppin went down already with 7 losses at that point. For example, Purdue squeaked in to the last 2-seed slot with just 8 losses on a harder SOS. They would have had to run the table the rest of the year.

This doesn't mean they'll be easy (we lost to Ole Miss...). Just that it was a favorable draw for multiple reasons.

The possibility of Michigan then Iowa State in the second weekend is about as bad as we could draw without catching Florida and Purdue as second weekend options lol.

Michigan hasn't been what they were for over a month now. They're still VERY good, but I'd rather play Michigan than any of the other 3. As for Iowa State, I view the 2-seeds as pretty even. I would have preferred Houston because for some reason we do well against them (despite them use the same "can't call everything" philosophy that we suck against), but I think Iowa State is a better matchup for us than the other 2.

i agree its a favorable draw. theyre probably an 8 or 9 seed team without toppin. they had a top 10 SOS but the loss to zona st. did hurt them a good bit so yea a 2 was probably a stretch at that point, but i couldve seen a 3 depending on how their last few games played out, which would have been pretty winnable. i do think their coach is pretty legit. he seems a bit of a psycho but knows what hes doing.

I watched most of the Oats media availability and the way he talked he seems to think this team underachieved and didn’t think he’d be a 4 seed before the season started.

That'll happen when your entire portal class is absolutely worthless.
