Where have they been the last 2 years?

It seems kind of silly for the SEC to suggest Bama and Miss. St should be permanent rivals after not scheduling them for 2 straight years.

For the record, I agree with including them on Bamas permanent opponents. It’s just more SEC front office buffoonery.

We had to sacrifice our annual matchups with MSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Arkansas to appease the additions of Texas and Oklahoma.

To me conference expansion is every bit as responsible as NIL for the current college athletics landscape. If anything the push for NIL was prompted by conference expansion, which has been a brazen money grab over the last 15 years. Throwing that kind of money around so overtly destroyed any argument the schools ever had for the revenue sports being anything but a business.

To that end, OU and UGA ending NCAA control of television rights in the 1980s set the stage for this to become a multi-billion dollar media rights market it has become today.

Of course, this happened because the NCAA wasn't trying hard enough to expand carriage and increase the revenue distribution when the emergence of satellite and cable television made the future clear in that respect.

No good guys really. NCAA wasn't some protector of the sport but the power schools got nakedly greedy.

Yeah, weird lapse. But I've always liked Ms. St as well as Florida because of family ties. Kinda sucked not having them on the schedule the last two years.

2028...we get Kentucky and Vandy at home the same season we get Ohio St at home...none of these schedules are easy, but that kinda lessens the load that season a little.

How long before they announce the Oklahoma St series is canceled...just a matter of time. Just happy to keep Ohio St and ND. Throw in Oklahoma...lots of good blue blood matchups in the next 4-5 years.

Isn't this always the case? They get the calls in that trash can stadium. They get the favors, etc outside of it.

The irony that we are the big elephant in the SEC room but rarely abuse our power... however rocky top is always getting away with something.

Not shocked everyone else has balance but they somehow didn't get Florida and Alabama as their rivals and negotiated Kentucky.

It was never the case until Roy Kramer became SEC Commissioner. Maybe they got some special treatment when Neyland was coach, that was before my time.

Two series that only gained traction because of divisional play.

Well and a certain shared coach.
