I was there tonight. Great crowd and great energy.
However, that was the WORST Bama team I’ve seen in YEARS.
I’m not judging the season by one game but my goodness that was pitiful.

JJ has got to go. There's no excuse for Fay to still be as bad as he is if he had halfway decent coaching. He's not even serviceable at this point.

Well, of course! We lost, so someone’s head has to roll to assuage our 14 year old mindsets.

It’s not losing that’s the issue. It’s the way we looked. Fay was awful. Hitting was awful. Once you got past the first two hitters there was no chance.
And yes, a 14 year old could see that.

It’s the first game of the season. Most of the elite teams over the last several seasons have lost preseason match ups, often to teams they have no business losing to.
We on the other hand have plowed through our early season looking like world beaters, only to have disappointing conference records and get bounced in the first round.
Let’s not read too much into things just yet.

JJ had been a shite pitching coach for years. Props to him for keeping the team together and even going on a little run during the Bohannon fiasco. But he sucks at developing pitchers which is his job.

Alabama baseball (2-1) swept both legs of a doubleheader over Washington State (1-2) at Sewell-Thomas Stadium on Saturday, first claiming an 8-1 victory over the Cougars before an 11-1 win in the second game, earning the series win. After falling on Opening Day on Friday, the Crimson Tide's doubleheader sweep secured its 14th consecutive Opening Weekend series win, a streak that began in 2013.
From Head Coach Rob Vaughn
"Obviously, the results were much better. We just executed at a better level. You even saw it early in the game today. Zane (Adams) was as dialed in as it gets there in that first game. And we needed that. Because you can even feel it in the dugout, You could feel kind of some tightness in the dugout. Luckily, (Adams) was dialed in, giving us zero after zero. And then when Luke Vaughn finally hit the homer, it felt like they loosened up a little bit. We started running off really good at-bats. And then we had the young pup in the second game. (Myles) Upchurch did a great job in his first start, and the hitters were great. We're just really proud of the bounce-back. They didn't surprise me. It's what I thought they would do, but good to see them respond. I knew when we showed up to the yard, we were in a good head space. I didn't feel like there was any panic. They were ready to go and had a good day of baseball today."

Many thanks to Bama Central for caring enough to cover the baseball program. Something the athletic department seems uninterested in doing. Maybe just a sign of cost cutting measures.

We could miss a regional and have a team ERA of 6.00+ and LTL would still vouch for JJ to get another year.
He must have met him once and “he seemed like a great guy” or some BS.

Do you make all of your life decisions with this kind of sloppy reasoning?

I don't always agree with LTL, and I'm not vouching for Jackson, but we've played three games. The pitching looked really good in two of them. I'd argue that outside of Fay, the pitching on Friday was pretty solid, and Mitchell actually looked quite good.
People whining about firing a coach after ONE frickIN GAME are idiots pissing into the wind. Maybe you didn't want him back, but he's here, and he will be here this season. The simple-mindedness of just calling for coaches to be fired after any bad performance in any sport is making this board damn near unreadable.

We may not have a baseball program in about five or six years. Seriously.
At least that will be one less thing for people to bitch about.

I’m not basing my opinion that JJ is a shitty pitching coach over one game.
I’ve been saying this for over two years.
Fay looks the same as he’s looked for three years.
Got ran off the field by a team that’s probably practiced outside five times all year.
Same shitty mistakes while being ahead in the count that weren’t fixed last year or the year before.
Same shitty arse pitch sequences.
Adam’s and Upchurch looked a lot better, as they should against a team like WSU.
But begs the question — what did JJ see in Fay to give him the Friday role, because it is the difference in Alabama being 3-0 and 2-1.

Are you paying attention to our hitting? Tonight’s game we are going into the 6th with 1 hit. We’ve had the bases loaded twice & we still have a 0 in the run column.
