Pretty darn ok with this. Obviously 3rd looks better, but a relatively solid performance. Really impressed with King. Hoping we weren't fully rested/tapered and drop a little more time at NCAAs. I know I repeatedly say it, but relay points are obnoxiously important. Only ACCs are almost wrapped, but hoping after the BIGs and Pac-whatever meet we're still looking at a good chance to score top 8 in 4 of the 5.

I hate to say it, only because he's an auburn guy... but I hope we retain Oswaldo on staff. Dude really held our team together after Coley pulled a Chuck Horton on us. Chuck is the coach who quit on me and my teammates, day before I left for Bama

As other conferences championships wrap up I'll try and get back with how we're looking for NCAAs.

The Bama Central blurb about the Swimming team’s last day at SEC:

Swimming & Diving: The Alabama men’s swimmers closed the 2021 Southeastern Conference Championships on a high note, reeling in two gold medals on the meet’s final day at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Mo. Matt King won the 100 freestyle in a time of 41.66, adding that gold medal to the silver he took in the 50 freestyle earlier in the week. King also combined with Jonathan Berneburg, Sam DiSette and Colton Stogner to close the meet with gold in the 400 freestyle relay. The win marked the third year in a row that Alabama has closed the championships with a 400 freestyle relay win and the second year in a row that Stogner has anchored the winning effort. Derek Maas, Jake Marcum and Berneburg also finished as finalists on the last night. Maas took sixth in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 1:55.30, Marcum was sixth in the 200 backstroke in a time of 1:41.73, while Berneburg clocked a 43.18 to finish seventh in the 100 freestyle. As a team, Alabama finished fifth with 841.5 points, just nine out of third place.

Alabama Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Combine for 12 Medals at SEC Indoor Championships

The Crimson Tide men earned seven podium finishes and took third place with 72 points, while the women won five medals and took sixth as a team with 56 points

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Alabama men's and women's track and field teams combined to win 12 medals, set a championships record and broke three school marks this week at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships, which were held in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Alabama men, who were ninth at this meet a year ago, powered through to a third-place finish with 72 points on the strength of six podium finishes, including a gold medal performance by Isaac Odugbesan in the shot put. The women took sixth place with 56 points, paced by a win in the distance medley relay with a championships and UA record.

The men more than doubled their point total from last season and jumped six places in the team standings, posting their best finish since winning the title in 2018.

Head Coach Dan Water Said
"You look up and down our lineup and we just had a great meet. We competed tough, we scrapped for every point and just really laid it on the line the whole week. Things didn't go perfectly, and we left some points out there, but we never gave up, and the effort was phenomenal all the way through and it showed. We're super proud of this group and we're really looking forward to keeping things rolling and getting better as we move forward."

Alabama Volleyball Takes the Weekend Series Over Mississippi State With 3-1 Win Saturday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama volleyball offense had one of its top performances of the season Saturday afternoon against Mississippi State, earning the 3-1 win to take the weekend series against the Bulldogs.

Alabama (6-10) hit a season-best .336 as a team and held the edge over Mississippi State (4-10) in every statistical category. The Crimson Tide started the match with a pair of decisive wins, 25-16 and 25-18, to take a 2-0 match lead. The Bulldogs took their first lead at 12-11 in the third set and held on to win the frame, 25-19, and avoid the sweep. The teams traded back and forth in the fourth until, down 13-11, Alabama scored five unanswered to pull ahead 16-13 and never trailed from that point on, winning 25-21 to take the match.

After earning a season-high 20 kills yesterday, Abby Marjama improved on it Saturday with a team-leading 24, hitting .444 with just four errors on 45 swings. She added 10 digs for a double-double, joined by Riley Fisbeck who finished with 23 assists and 12 digs. Fisbeck and Marjama were two of three players to finish with double-digit digs, while Madelyn St. Germain led the team with 15.

Alabama Rowing Earns Highest Ranking in Program History at No. 16 in CRCA Preseason Poll

Alabama rowing enters its 2021 spring season this weekend with its highest-ever ranking, coming in at No. 16 in the Division I Pocock CRCA Preseason Poll, released Wednesday by USRowing.

It is the highest mark in program history and the Crimson Tide's first appearance in the preseason rankings, previously earning votes outside the top 25 in last year's preseason poll. Alabama made its first ever appearance in the top 25 in 2019, placing as high as 17th under then-first year head coach Glenn Putyrae, who is in his third season at the helm of the Tide this year.

UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA TO OPEN FIRST ADAPTED TENNIS FACILITY IN US

quote:

The University of Alabama has announced plans to open the first adapted athletics tennis facility in the nation later this year. With accessible locker rooms, space to host clinics and tournaments and training areas for the UA's world-renowned tennis team, construction on the Parker-Huan Tennis Facility will begin immediately.

The Adapted Athletics program recently raised about $5 million to construct the state-of-the-art Strand-Hardin Arena at the University Recreation Center, but its distance from the tennis courts was inconvenient for adapted athletes who needed to travel back and forth between the facilities frequently.

Track and Field (NCAA tweeted this yesterday - just now seeing it)

After making her mark as The Fastest Woman Alive, Carmelita "The Jet" Jeter looks to leave a different mark on track & field as a coach for @AlabamaTrack

CARMELITA JETER'S JOURNEY TO BECOME THE FASTEST WOMAN ALIVE WAS A TEAM EFFORT

Coach Jet. After three years on the coaching staff at Missouri State, Jeter moved to the University of Alabama back in August, where she will work with sprinters — on both the women’s track team and the men’s. She came to campus and immediately scheduled meetings with her student-athletes to discuss what their individual goals were for the season ahead and for their own track careers.
