To be fair, Burton looked pretty good the final few weeks of the season when Bryce was healthier.

Saban seems really happy with the offense and Tommy Rees. The wide receivers are going to be a strength it looks like. Burton, Benson, Brooks and Bond all made plays. He also seems happy with Trezmen Marshall. Good to hear.

Looks like Benson is the real deal. I can't wait to see him in action.

I think one of the most underrated aspects of the hiring of Rees is that the dude is pretty young, played at a big time program, and can really relate to players today.

I think it's probably a nice change of pace for them to get coached by some guy who is not their grandparents' age

Probably too soon to give them that nickname. Unfortunately.

Saban's presser after today's scrimmage (Twitter)

About Rees..."[he] does a really good job with formations and how to use formations to create advantages for us on offense..."

Forget complaining about BoB's playcalling, his formations were unimaginative, predictable, and overall just vanilla AF.

Saban went opposite directions when hiring the new coordinators. Steele is the opposite of Pete. Stoic, experienced and knows how to deal with the pressure of coaching for Alabama. Rees is the opposite of BoB. Young, relates to the players better, seems like a more imaginative play caller.

It's been a long time since I saw our receivers run such predictable and unimaginative route trees on any given play. They were good enough to get open, they just lacked the right scheme to get them open.

... and Saban watched BoB do it for two years.

1982 Dolphins "The Dolphins' main strength was their defense, nicknamed the "Killer Bees" because 6 of their 11 starters had last names that began with the letter "B". The "Killer Bees", anchored by Pro Bowl defensive tackle Bob Baumhower, led the league in fewest total yards allowed (2,312) and fewest passing yards allowed (1,027)."

Sure sounds like he’s gonna start if healthy.
