I would love to see a quarter by quarter breakdown of the stats in the Texas game. I can't find one. But it seems to me when we needed to run the ball in the 2nd half, we couldn't do it. Finally, we threw the run game out the window at crunch time and just had Bryce drop back every play, and any rushing yardage was his scrambles. I will agree to respectfully disagree on this subject with my fellow posters.

On an unrelated subject, should we be looking at Holman Wiggins for some of the problems with the receiving corps not getting open/separation? I don't know the answer and I'm just asking/speculating, but we have been recruiting highly ranked WR kids every year, and obviously, some will be misses and never develop as you expect (Agiye Hall). But there is still oodles of talent in that WR room, but we are still having to bring in transfers and are still waiting for the recruits to develop. Wiggins has been the only constant there since 2019. I know some will point to Devonta and Metchie and those guys but he inherited those players from the previous coach. Wiggins has a very good resume' and this may be totally off base, but is he part of the issue?

BOBs route tree sucks . Wiggins can only coach what he is told

I love when they show the behind the QB camera angle and see what Bryce sees…. UT has our guys covered up all day . Kiffin and Sark has no problem scheming guys open

I fully agree with the concern about the run game and am not comfortable with it at all at this point.

However, it's pretty hilarious that we almost all feel this way and..........we are #1 in the country in Rush YPA by almost a full half yard and 1st in the SEC by 1.0+ yards per attempt

1. Alabama (7.57)
2. Florida (6.42)
3. Vanderbilt (5.79)
4. Ole Miss (5.70)

The "route tree" is the same one that was installed by Kiffin. Gattis and Locksley had zero trouble teaching receivers the "route tree" that you're referring to.

Technically , route trees are basically the same with little nuances / changes added by coaches. The route concepts and “calls” by BOB are no where near previous coordinators

You remove it because it's an outlier. How many 81 yard runs have we had in the past 5 years? the answer is not many. It's not that it doesn't fit the narrative, it's that it's an anomaly. If we're counting on someone to take it 80 yards to the house every week, we're up shite creek.

If I'm removing every run over 20 or 25 or 30 yards, that's massaging the numbers to prove a point. If I remove one black swan event, it's normalizing the statistics in a small sample size.

If you’re going to remove the longest run because it’s an outlier, then you’d at least want to remove the longest negative play for the same reason. I believe that’s a 11 yard sack on Bryce

That being said, the McLellan run is a valid play you’d want to keep in because long run plays (and screens to the RB) are a legitimate threat with the current offense. Three different players have had a play over 50 yards rushing. It’s part of the offense, and a reality that defenses have to account for

If you are not careful, Bama has multiple players that can chew up half the field or more in one play

Wiggins has been here for about 5 years. This problem is new. That would lead me to believe the problem is somewhere else (The OC).

I watched the game again, and Law is one of the best blocking Wrs that I’ve seen. He’s physical, but he will also stay on them like a pit bull. Very very impressed with him

I think Law could see a way more prominent role with how he was blocking on Saturday

Law was by far the highest graded run blocker by PFF - of any position.

16 run block plays, 83.6 grade

Next highest was Amari Kight at 70.7

Next highest reciever was Isiah Bond at 62.8 and Brooks at 60.3

The OC was there last year, and we were very good at throwing the ball unless the O line couldnt block.
Saban pretty much said the receivers were not running hard vs TX. Plus, BY has missed on a few big plays. We are playing more players at the receiver position than normal, and it could just be timing and communication issues.
