It's unfortunate that some people get priced out, but that's capitalism at work. And it's also what partially funds our world class facilities and staff which enable all the winning. You can't have one without the other

It has nothing to do with money. It has to do with the quality of the product they deliver. It keeps getting shittier but the price keeps going up. And access for the fans is part of the product they deliver. It's why nfl and pro sports players have mandatory media sessions; because the game is about the fans. The whole fricking show is for the fans. Nobody gives a shite if you can score 5 TDs if the fans aren't there. Everything that has happened in CFB over the last 5 years has been detrimental to the fan experience. It's been all about the empowerment of the student athlete. And then Saban has his particular hatred for the media. But he's lost sight of the big picture by banning media. It makes for a shitty product. The charm of college football is you got to grow with the players and see them develop. Now it's all about transfer portals and NIL deals.

I wish it wasn't that way. I wish we could go back to the old days. And you can think I'm overreacting by wanting CFB to die, and I probably am, but the point still stands. Locking the fans out is bullshite.

But back to your point of money, the price is always going up and the act of going to the games themselves is becoming more and more of a hassle. In order to commit to something like that a person needs to be invested in the product. And in order to be invested, I need to know what is going on with the program. I don't pratricularly care to watch 85 numbered robots in red jerseys go up and down the field. I want to be invested in the program. I want to spend my time and money consuming their product. But it just feels like a one-sided friendship over here.

This from the other board:

Some quick notes from The Athletic (behind paywall) on the scrimmage

- WRs had drops, specifically Brooks had a few
- starting 3 wrs were Brooks, Burton and Holden
- when going 5 wide Leary and Prentice came in
- Tyler Harell is still learning the playbook. Got open deep once but Milroe missed him
- also heard positive things about Shazz Preston

- starting OL from left to right was Steen, Randolph, Dalcourt, Ekiyor, Latham
- 2nd team OL was Knight, Cohen, McLaughlin, Booker, George

-Gibbs is the real deal and is "even better than we thought"

- Jahin Oatis is getting some first team reps. On source said "we can't move Oatis" meaning even double teams aren't pushing him back
-Burroughs is looking good

- Moody has inside track to start with To'oTo'o

-Barswell is considered elite along with Turner and Anderson
- Keanu Koht is making plays and making some noise even with the 3 edge guys in front of him

- Ricks and Arnold got time at 1st team CB across from Kool Aid. Sounds like Ricks still isn't comfortable in the defense which is definitely a flag. But Arnold has played well

That's not a good look for the Brock Brothers.

I get that restricting access is super frustrating and we are all used to the years where we could get inside info pretty easily, but to say that the lack of access degrades the quality of product while we are in the middle of the greatest run of all time is kind of funny.

Sorry you feel that way? I mean truthfully, even if we want to complain that reporters aren't allowed for the first 20 minutes of practice anymore, fans have more access to the program and players than almost ever before. Compare today to pre 2010, its night and day. Just look at social media to see the difference. We sure weren't getting daily video taped pressers and daily photo/video media from every practice back in the 90s.

Also I disagree on the comparison to pro sports. It's not all about the fans. This isn't just a business. They're not just selling a product. That's what differentiates pro teams from college teams. If you want to be a fan of a sports team that is operating as a business with you as the consumer... watch pro sports.

While fans are an important component of college athletics, it actually is more about the students than you. It's more about the university than you. Perhaps it's easy to lose sight of that if you're not an alumni, but at least from my perspective, I want the program to benefit the students and the university writ large before me. Now if I can help in that by being an engaged fan, and if the University can increase my engagement by delivering a great product and media access and the like? Great. That's an awesome piece of the puzzle. But not the core mission.

Also, not really sure what NIL or transfer portals has to do with anything. If anything NIL should be increasing your exposure to the players.

It doesn't degrade the football that they put on the field. And I'm sure that is the only thing Saban cares about. But it does diminish the quality of product they deliver to the consumer. Look at the F1 Series on Netflix. Giving access to the fans makes the product exponentially better. I'm not saying we have to have insider access to everything everyday. I'm just saying throw us a friggin bone man.

I get your point, just that the lump sum of quality it so high that it's a little wild to be so upset about one aspect of it being less.
I do agree that more access is great for fans. The Netflix F1 show has people watching that haven't even heard of F1 before so that is a good example.

I wish they'd do more Bama Cuts episodes personally.

Maybe I'm overreacting a little. But I'm like a drug addict that can't get his fix. For years and years the program has been my dealer. They developed the habit. SEC network was designed to give fans even more access and it was a huge success. I can't even count the number of websites that were built to give fans more access to CFB programs. So I know I'm not the only person feeling this way.

I think Cohen is still working his way back into shape after going into that mental health facility. I heard he was rotating with Randolph, it wasn't a clear 1/2 situation. I'd expect him to be back in the lineup full time soon.

I’m going to bring my list of things to watch next week. I’ll have to bring the roster with me I don’t know every number yet.

That suspension for Hall may be a bit shorter. JK I don't think Sark is that crazy.
