Thats not good. He's one of the best OL we have.

I know the article was just posted, but it sure Evan Neal might be the number 1 overall draft pick. I wonder if this is old and he just got Javon's blessing to post it.

Seems like he's good now, I didn't see anything about this affecting him for the upcoming season. Glad he got some help when he needed it.

I wish that Bama offered better treatment for this type of situation. Then again, maybe it’s better for the person to sometimes leave their known surroundings for this type of thing. Either way, I Hope he learns to cope and deal with things, and football can be on the back burner

It is. These programs are intentionally far away from home and in a very rigid/quarantined environment. I guess that’s what the research has found most effective. Had to do a lot of research on places like this for a family member with mental health issues.
The number one concern is his mental health, and if that’s better, then it’s a huge success. But I do wonder what kind of shape he’s in. Lineman more than anywhere else take a long time to develop the right physical conditioning. I’m not sure you could even find an in patient facility with the necessary resources and equipment to feed and train a D1 lineman. Or if even doing so would be good for his mental health.

I used to have to deal with them a lot for work and this is largely true. Purely anecdotal, but in my experience the people who insisted on going to rehab facilities within a 30 minute drive of their house were typically just looking to use rehab to shield themselves from the consequences of their own actions and had no serious interest in addressing their mental health or substance abuse issues. They'd usually want to go to facilities that had pretty lax rules and leave within a couple of months. The people who wanted to be 500+ miles away from everyone and everything they knew were serious.

The interesting thing with both Cohen and Shor both going to the Herren Inst; is the relationship that Bama has with Herren. Remember his son CH Jr; walked on as WR last season (having never played College football) after following his father's footprints to Boston College and then to SDSt in Basketball (but evidently, they didn't see him getting to the NBA) he (They) called on Saban to allow him to give FB a chance... (he evidently washed out before the end of the season)... but apparently Coach is using CH Sr's facility to help the troops... never know what is actually happening behind the scenes (esp with Coach)

They are saying all the right things about Steen. I hope he has a strong season. Not sure if he has two more to play or not but it looks like he is somebody who will be in the top 5 this season. Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders. I almost feel bad for him trying to impress the coaches while having to go against Will Anderson.

Yes, he has two years of eligibility left.
