Against a team like ole miss, I would like to see Anderson, sanders and braswell on the field at the same time. Anderson is big enough and quick enough to get pressure from inside. Ole miss isn’t going to try and pound you. He’s so quick that he can take away the inside zone read and still get pressure. He’s special.

Ole Miss is actually a very balanced team, they're averaging 298 yards rushing per game this season and averaged 211 yards last season. They ran for 268 yards against us last year. Despite what people think about Kiffin he does run the ball and is very balanced. When we played them last year they rushed 57 attempts and only attempted 29 passes.

I'm always afraid of LBs crashing on the mesh point and then the QB scampers around end for 15 yards all day long. STAY AT HOME please. Account for the QB.

Ole Miss was held in the twenties on offense three times last year and the thirties twice. The other teams did not have the quality players we had/have on defense. Schemes make a difference. I think this years schemes will be a lot different than last years. Films doesn't lie.

We're running the same scheme we've ran since Nick Saban's been here. He has not changed his defense scheme-wise at all.

You are absolutely right. The offense changed when it was necessary. I believe the defense will follow suit soon. I do believe he has recruited different type personnel on defense.

I hope you're right, but I still can't get out of my head with them running for 268 yards against our defense last year. After seeing what Florida did to us its a cause for concern.

I agree entirely. Turnovers are going to make the difference.

Ole miss’ run game is not power based. Penetration is the kryptonite for the zone read running attack. Force the QB to give or keep immediately. Eliminate the read. Anderson inside would stress the mesh. I don’t know that he could hold up the whole game inside, but it could alter the play called not knowing where he will line up. We obviously have to do something differently than we did last year. Get creative.

We need Anderson rushing from and setting the edge (Jack LB spot) to take away the outside run and RPO pass options. We have DL players to rush inside and ILB run fits inside. That works fine when it's executed well. But you're right, inside penetration (not mush rush) is needed to disrupt the inside mesh point.

I think that's great on third down. But i dont know if Braswell can set the edge well enough to play all three downs.

If they see we are light at the LOS they will. Then they will throw one over our heads when the safeties start creeping up.

I get the nervousness about this game. I do. Lane is an elite offensive play caller and Corrall is probably a legit 1st round QB.
But let's not forget that Lane isn't perfect. We've all seen him get too full of himself and call some overly cute play that kills a drive.
And I'm not completely convinced that their offense is quite as talented as they were last year. Drummond and Sanders have looked good but are they the weapons Moore and Yeboah were?
We'll find out Saturday but at the moment I'm not ready to declare they'll score on every possession like some seem to be.

Pretty damn accurate.
If the Jack and Sam set the edge properly the read will not work. If Matt fakes them out time and again it will suck as bad as UF doing it to us.
Need to run zone, make Matty find holes instead of 50/50 1 on 1.

GMac said he would run 2 man and 2 safety's and force Lane to run the ball, which he doesnt like to do. That does make it hard to defend the quarterback running the ball. He said when they play hurry up it makes it hard to play anything other than the base defense, but he and Cole said coaches have figured out ways to get in AN EXOTIC defensive play even during hurry up. Gmac said he would give up the 4 and 5 yard gains though, because usually you get a bad play or penalty. He also said Ole Miss has good players but they wont have a huge advantage this year at any position like they had last year with their tight end.

Agree on that. If we make them sustain drives and play patient, mistake free football for 60 minutes and they beat us anyway then hats off to them.

GMac is wrong about Lane not wanting to run the ball. He runs it a lot to set up taking shots deep. Bama DBs should play zone coverage to take away deep passing threat.
