All signs are pointing to the University of Alabama having spring football.
The Coronavirus pandemic canceled spring activities last year, but the Crimson Tide will have an A-Day game this year.
According to reports, the spring exhibition matchup is scheduled for Saturday, April 17 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. When it comes to the time and network, neither of those details have been discussed.

So, college football players are not scholars, eh? I beg to differ, and I bring you Bama offensive lineman Chris Owens as proof. You see, just the the other day, Arlington, Texas Mayor Jeff Williams proclaimed February 9, 2021 as "Chris Owens Day", and it wasn't all because Chris is a fine football player (Chris went to high school at Lamar).
Let me tell you a few things about Chris Owens: Chris is the man who stepped up in place of the injured Landon Dickerson this past season and took over the center position. In the last five years, Chris owns three SEC and two national championship rings. Chris has decided to play one more season at Bama before he goes pro.
And now the impressive part:
• Dean's List all five years at UA.
• Undergrad degree in Journalism.
• Master's degree in Sports Admin.
• SEC All-Community Team.
• SEC Leadership Committee.
Sometimes blue collar, workmanlike offensive lineman fail to receive the recognition they deserve. Yes, Chris Owens Day was held a few days ago just outside of Dallas, but let's all make Chris Owens' day by congratulating him on his impressive accomplishments. It's a job well done by a fine young man who you really never knew.

The Truth - RBs... As everyone knows we are loaded at RB. Going into spring Brian Robinson will be the starter followed by Jase McClellan / Keilan Robinson on second team. They will be followed by Roydell Williams then Kyle Edwards. Trey Sanders is not expected to be able to practice this spring but is expected to be back for the season. Also, expectations are high for Camar Wheaton who will get to campus early summer.
Brian will no doubt be our starter this fall but sometimes under Saban backup RB(s) get even more carries. Everyone expects us to mainly use 3 backs this year.
Jase was ahead in his class last year and most expect him to stay ahead through spring. Great things ahead for Jase.
Keilan is a stud and don't be surprised if he stands out during spring. He came back bigger and faster. He has that explosive gear that is elite! I can't imagine that he is not top 3.
Roydell is right behind Jase and will push for spot in top three. He can really catch well and could be used on passing downs.
Kyle is working really hard and knows that he has to turn some heads this spring. Will be hard but we will see.
Trey is everybody's favorite. All the coaches and players want him back. He is a leader and great kid. Already has had two major injuries. If he gets healthy, he will be in top three.
Camar is the wild card. We were loaded before he signed but based on film, he is good enough to come in like Trent Richardson and make an immediate impact but too early to tell.
I have covered all positions but OL, they are next and by far the hardest to predict with so many new players and new coach.

Assuming it is ok to post this, since Surge has posted all up to this point? and this is the final installment.
The Truth... OL 2021..Starting 5 going into spring
The Truth... OL 2021..Starting 5 going into spring
quote:
The Truth... OL is going to have a lot of competition this spring and going to be our biggest challenge to get right. The starting five going into spring will be Evan Neal at LT, Tommy Brown at LG, Chris Owens at C, Emil Ekiyor at RG, and Kendall Randolph at RT. Don't get too excited because there will be many changes and trials as "How to get the best 5 on the field". This group has the most experience so they are first team on the white board but we have some extremely talented younger players. Experience helps with the complex blocking schemes. The QB calls a lot of blocking schemes and so does the center. It is very important for the QB and center to be on the same page.
The second team going into spring will be Javion Cohen/Tommy Brockermeyer at LT, Pierce Quick at LG, Darrian Dalcourt at C, Amari Kight at RG, and Damieon George/ JC Latham at RT.
The third team will be Tanner Bowles, Terrence Ferguson, Jaeden Roberts at G, and Seth McLaughlin & James Brockmeyer at C
The only two solid starters at their position are Evan at LT and Emil at RG. Chris Owens will start but could be at C or RT.
There will be a battle at RT between Randolph, Cohen, T Brockermeyer, Damieon George, and JC Latham. We could play the second best tackle at LG if better than Tommy Brown.
As you can see, this is going to be fun to watch over spring practice and the scrimmages. Saban will play a younger player if ready and play a young tackle at guard if in the best 5 which he has done before several times.
Who you got as your starting five against Miami??? This is my last position report. If you missed one they are on previous posts. Remember that this is GOING INTO SPRING. Hope you enjoyed them.

I have a very hard time envisioning Tommy Brown starting at guard. He's a tackle all the way.

I appreciate you copying and pasting. I'm not sure that I agree with his assessment of the offensive line but we have time to get it sorted out. Thankfully we will have spring practice this year.

NOT SURE IF ALL HIS SNAPS THIS SEASON WERE AT GUARD; BUT,...

75. Tommy Brown Preseason: - 6-foot-7, 320 pounds - Redshirt sophomore that is working his way up on the roster. Should spot play this season and make a push to start in 2021. Against Texas A&M: Played in three snaps Against Tennessee Played in 2 snaps Against Miss. State 6 snaps Against Kentucky: Played in 20 snaps at left guard Against LSU: 8 snaps

The new Strength and Conditioning coaches are a big deal. They have really improved B.R. this season as a back. He looks very much improved from last year. Here was a great run vs Ohio State as evidence.

That was one of my favorite plays of the entire game. I also enjoyed how Harris caught the pass at the goal line got hammered but did not go down. Both plays surprised the announcers

Has anyone seen news about Lorenzo Washington? Apparently something may have happened to him.

BamaCentral has confirmed through sources that former University of Alabama defensive lineman Lorenzo Washington died over the weekend at the age of 34.
Details have yet to be released.
Washington, a native of Loganville, Ga., played football at Grayson High School before attending Alabama. He redshirted his freshman season in 2005, and was still part of the football team Nick Saban took over in 2007.
Washington began his college career as a nose tackle, but primarily played defensive end under Saban and position coach Bo Davis after the Crimson Tide's addition of Terrence Cody.
Statistically, Washington's best year at Alabama was Saban's first. During the 2007 season, the redshirt sophomore totaled 36 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss and three sacks.
For Alabama's BCS National Championship season in 2009, Washington started all 14 games including against Texas at the Rose Bowl. He contributed 21 tackles, including five for a loss and two sacks. Cody and Brandon Deaderick were the other two starting linemen.
Washington wasn't selected in the 2010 NFL Draft, but signed as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys. He was released three months later, and subsequently signed to the New England Patriots practice squad in November.
In 2011, Washington landed on the New York Jets practice squad, but was released weeks before the start of the season. The final career stop in the NFL was with the Detroit Lions, who signed him for brief time in 2012.
After his football playing career came to a close, Washington moved to Dallas as a sales associate at Berkshire Hathaway Automotive. After a year, he moved up to serve as the company's assistant finance director.
In January 2017, Washington became owner of TRIO Protection Services, LLC, a private security company also based in Dallas. While continuing to run the business, he also joined Ethos Group in 2018 as a finance manager.
This story will be updated as details are made available.
