Surtain is going to be a really good NFL DB. He’s not going to make crazy plays, but he’s a consistent coverage corner. He’s the same player every game, and he’s improved this year for sure.

Maybe Holden got approval to go visit his friend. Otherwise, he might be in Coach's doghouse for ignoring advice to only visit with his family.

The SEC had to adjust championship eligibility and tiebreaker rules due to the unusual circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He lost the ball or just got burned and sorry arse Gaurantono dropped a TD on him.

All DBs get beat. No way around it.

He's quietly become one of our all time greats.

Really think hes an absolute stud and one of the best cover guys we have had. Takes away the other teams best WR whoever we play. I see him doing really well in the pros. He’s got everything you look for

Yea, I believe Surtain will end up being really good in the NFL. I believe he’s better than Humphrey at this point and Milner.

Marlon is just a physical monster as a DB. He loved to come up in the running game or screen pass and pop you. The guy is so physical he would have made a great running back, like his daddy, or safety. He did have a tendency to get beat deep, especially on the double move. But Surtain doesn't come off as a physical guy at all and seems much happier chasing receivers around the field. All in all, this group of Bama DBs have had their problems being physical and making receivers pay after the catch.

Marlon is a different breed of corner even for NFL standards. He has track speed and he's a bully. He's the best CB run defender in the NFL by a wide margin.

Pat is a technician though and has prototype size. I think a good comparison for him would be early Xavier Rhodes in Minnesota (now in indy) or even a Jalen Ramsey ceiling. Pat will play for a long time.

Nobody that's played the position in the last 20 years really compares to Marlon. He's a top 5 cover corner and in a tier by himself as a tackler and edge setter

LINK ]Saban talks contact tracing, handling uncertainty on radio show (BOL)

quote:

... "And look, the social-tracing part of it is the reason that these games are being canceled. It’s not the numbers of players that are testing positive, aight.

"We’ve been ’round and around on this even to the point where the people in the federal government -- Dr. Fauci and the people that work for him -- told us that if you’re gonna get this, you’re gonna get it in seven days. That’s the science, aight. You’re probably gonna get it within five, but seven days max. So, we could test guys out of it in five, six and seven, let them come back in eight days, but we’re having them quarantine for 14 days...

"We should use the science to make sure that we keep people safe, aight, but when we have science that verifies what safe is then we should use that.” ...

Conference rules should allow quarantines to end with 3 negative tests done on days 5, 6 & 7.

I take that as Saban is just as sick of this BS as every other person on God's green Earth. I mean, the CDC has gone back and forth on all of these parameters, only to back pedal 3-4 weeks later, yet they have held fast and strong on this 14 day quarantine for contact tracing, while a positive test results in a 10 day quarantine. It's almost like the NCAA has conspired with the CDC to make these rules and guidelines so confusing that they are going to catch some screwing up and punish them, even though there isn't a punishment for protocols.

Marlon was good at Bama but not great ( a la Minkah, Eddie J, Pat Surtain, Millner). He got torched by Mike Williams in the Natty Championships and was super grabby and getting many flags. I think he was a good player at Bama and pretty much got drafted so high because NFL teams saw his potential and all his physical gifts.

Surtain is just lock down, very similar to Pat Peterson. Nobody really throws at him and when they do he is usually right there with his man. He only ever gets beat if it is absolutely a perfect ball

ETA: I know Marlon personally and absolutely love the guy and always root for him. He has done super well in NFL and was still a good player at Bama

Genuinely would like to see how many times Pat has been thrown at this year. Feels like we've barely heard his name all year (In a good way)

LINK ]SEC adds extra game week for potential makeup contests (247Sports)
quote:

The SEC built in an extra week between the end of the regular season on Dec. 5 and the conference title game on Dec. 19 so that teams could make up a game if needed. And according to Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork, the league’s athletic directors have decided to add a second potential makeup date. “We added December 19th as a playing date yesterday at our AD meeting," Bjork said Wednesday, per CBS Sports. “So we now have six Saturdays to work with.”

#SEC presidents and chancellors approved Dec. 19 as makeup date for games today, a source tells @247Sports.

I think the only time State threw at him was his pick 6.

Really though I'd guess 2-3 times per game and it's usually something downfield and into the boundary so it ends up being something only the WR can make a play on or a ball that lands harmlessly out of bounds.

So, the teams not playing in the title game will play the morning of the SEC title game? Are they going to start altering schedule so that the teams with a chance to make the SEC title game can get their games played before Dec 19th. If so, they will need to make the changes known soon so that coaches can prep for the teams they will play next Sat, Nov 21st.
