They could move the game to the bye week both teams share.
They really should try to save those weeks for any Covid outbreaks. Any other year, a move to the bye week would be ok

They've moved up landfall by 12 hours to 1PM Friday. If that holds, likely this thing is out of MS by kickoff time, so it will just depend on the predicted strength of it. It's predicted to weaken before landfall to Cat 1 or 2, and with how fast it's moving flooding likely won't be a big issue.
All that to say, that's good news for keeping the game at its scheduled time.

Center of storm is projected to be near MS/TN border at kickoff time. Playing on Friday evening seems like a good move.

I just saw they are calling for possible tropical storm conditions even around kickoff time Saturday. It will be raining and windy. Very sloppy game and I hope we find our running game.

The National Hurricane Center is saying it will slow down as it heads to the coast. Projected to make landfall in LA and weaken but become larger in size(more spread out). Still expecting a hurricane when it makes landfall. The larger the size will see more widespread rain, winds, and flooding.
It might be Najee Harris Heisman moment and Sanders coming out party this Saturday.

I wish they would just go ahead and make a call on this and move the time/date or move the location. The longer it goes the harder it will be to coordinate and it will make postponing the easiest solution.
The conditions are going to be poor at best and unplayable at worst at 5pm on friday in Oxford. I really don't understand what the hold up is in getting this game time changed to friday or sunday

Storm forecasting will be more accurate tonight and Thursday morning than it is now. Postponing the game seems unnecessary and creates other issues. They're probably already doing some preliminary prep to potentially play on Friday evening. I think those factors are why they're still waiting to decide.

I would bet A LOT of money that the contingency plan is already in place and they're just waiting to determine whether they're going to pull the trigger on it.
I'm sure the equipment truck(s) will be loaded up today and they'll just wait to hear if they're headed to Oxford tomorrow for a Fri night game, or somewhere else for a Sat game.

I think it's a lot to do with timing.
There are forecasts that make it reasonable to move the game up in date or time, and forecasts that make it reasonable to move the game time back.
Sort of stuck. The only definitive thing to do is move it to November, but you really don't want to do that, especially this season.

The conference is currently looking into alternative dates for the Alabama-Ole Miss game that’s scheduled to be played Saturday evening in Oxford, Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
The three alternative dates being looked at for the game are Friday, Sunday and later in the season. Playing on Saturday still remains a possibility too, according to Kiffin.
“I don’t think we’ll know until tomorrow for sure,” Kiffin said. “I think they’re kind of holding off on the most accurate weather we can get and figure it out.”
