Was it Luther or Kenny Bell?
Luther wasn’t as bad be cause of the way Bell handled his recruitment. He was committed to LSU for a long time. On NSD he showed up wearing an LSU jacket. Sat down to sign, took the jacket off to reveal a Bama shirt and flipped. Not really the best way to handle it if you don’t want blowback.
Luther was in the same class as Will Blackwell at West Monroe so there was some buzz because he was an Army AA and Will wasn’t. Many thought Will was better so when he chose Bama while Will chose LSU the ranting started up.

Everyone knew Bell was Bama bound the last 3 months of that recruiting season though.

I respect what he has done at Clempson but I have told two people that know him personally i dont want him at Bama. I would like to find someone who has similar traits of NS and the Bear. Those being work ethic, great recruiting, attention to detail, and willing to adapt to changing times. Among a few.

Thanks, I guess?

dont thank me..just spouting off my thoughts? Dabo has made some harsh statements about a place that gave him his start to CFB and coaching.
I am not an alum but I am an avid Bama fan and saw my first live game in fall of 1974 vs FSU.
He needs to shut his mouth and dribble the damn ball. At least Cristobal hasnt bad mouthed UA nor NS. Pruitt would be my next favorite and I think he is on the cusp of doing good things at UT

These anti Dabo posts are getting downvotes. I don't know what he said somewhere but he has gone to the playoffs 5 years in a row with a 69-5 record over that stretch. He wins in the ACC but he is competitive in every playoff. He is popular with his players. He went to Bama and played at Bama. He probably uses his booster network in a manner similar to many SEC teams. He has all the characteristics (changing with times, recruiting etc) mentioned with CNS. He recruits at a similar level and wins at a similar level. Congratulations to Pruitt on the Gator Bowl win over Indiana. Christobal is a promising coach who could get several 10 win seasons and probably win a few vs Malzahn.
I appreciated Stallings but we had an opportunity for Bowden. Let's not pass up on the modern version of Bowden. Sweeney may win 300 games and it would be nice for him to do so at Bama in the second half of his career.

The chance at Bowden was missed before Stallings. That was goofed in 1986 when Bowden was misled by the administration. When he was offered again in 1990, there was no way he was leaving Tallahassee.

I don't have an issue with what you posted. It's certainly within your rights to speak your mind. But please move it to the thread started by CrimsonBoz below. No one wants this thread to get derailed. Surge will murder us all in our sleep.

I wouldn't worry about those little red arrows, that just gives the kids in the room something to do while the adults are talking.

There really has to be an opening and often this conversation gets spoken about as if we need to hurry up and do something. You mentioned Bobby Bowden, well, maybe our coach is just going to keep on keeping on for another decade. Sign me up for that.

Coach Saban told a recruit he's going coach until he's older than Bowden was when he retired.

Bowden coached his last game when he was 80. I hope Saban calls it quits when he starts losing it. Bowden's last six seasons ranged from mediocre to bad.

Saban has also said he'll keep coaching as long as his health permits it and as long as he's still successful at it.

Practice (Sep 3) Nuggets:
quote:
-- As we’ve noted throughout the week, freshman quarterback Bryce Young is back at practice and doesn’t seem to have skipped a beat. He jumped right back into the mix and received a lot of reps with the second-team offense during Tuesday and Wednesday’s practices.
-- Another 5-star freshman that we’ve mentioned quite a bit is linebacker Will Anderson, who had a really strong scrimmage this past Saturday. That wasn’t a one-hit wonder, as Anderson has performed well in this week’s practices. A source said nobody can get away from this guy when he’s rushing the passer -- Young included. He has been every bit as advertised.
-- We’ve posted stories on Miller Forristall and Carl Tucker this week, but a younger tight end that flashed during walk-throughs earlier this summer has done the same this week. Redshirt sophomore Cameron Latu has worked in some reps with the first-team offense.
Here’s what Forristall had to say about Latu:
“Cam was a guy who last year, I guess, was really his first year playing tight end. Coming out of high school, he was one of the most coveted athletes coming out of high school. So, you give him another year in the system to get bigger, faster, stronger and in a new weight room system, which I think has really helped him and everybody from a physical standpoint. But man, he’s really developed and glad to see what he’ll do this year and push for playing time.”
-- Finally, depth is going to be critical this season because of the pandemic, and one walk-on that could potentially make an impact if his position group is hit by the virus is receiver Joshua Lanier, a Tuscaloosa native. We’ve heard his name a couple of times this preseason.
-- Alabama will be on the practice field this afternoon at roughly 3:30 p.m. CT. The team won’t practice tomorrow and will be back on the field Saturday. That won’t be a scrimmage -- the next one is scheduled for Sept. 12 -- but it will feature some game-like situations.
