The last time UA I believe that was a game winning FG was the Cotton Bowl at the end of the 2005 season.

Maybe it’s just me but I believe Reichard will be very good. During the Saban era, we have seen some of the ugliest missed field goals you could ever see. Even when Reichard missed, it at least looked good and hit the bar.

When we played UGA for the National Championship, we could have ended the game in regulation, but missed a chip shot

I have been saying it since he got here... balls looks good coming off his foot and has a consistent flight ... I choose to die on this hill

Since everyone is talking about FG. I Couldn't sleep last night so was watching some older games where Tiffing was kicking 54 yds and Jeremy Shelley was pretty good in the Natty against lsu.
Made me laugh because i knew you guys were on a tear about FG kicking in this thread right now.

I think the perception is we have relied on the offense under Saban to win games not the FG kicker. So when he trots out there, especially in a game winning situation, it is even more noticeable.

But the reality is this.

Alabama does have the most missed field goals since Saban took over the program. According to CBS, the Crimson Tide have missed 101 field goals since 2007 – the most by any team in that span.

Right, but it just hasn't cost us opportunities to get to the promised land. On the other hand:

Take another blue blood program FSU under Bobby Bowden vs Miami. There were enough missed winning field goals to qualify as a genuine curse.

Wide Right I: No. 2 Miami 17, No. 1 Florida State 16 (1991)
What happened: Florida State (10-0) and Miami (8-0) both came in undefeated, but Gerry Thomas missed a 34-yard field goal with 29 seconds remaining that would've given the Seminoles the win.
Aftermath: Florida State lost to No. 5 Florida the following week but beat No. 9 Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl. Miami won its fourth national championship after beating No. 1 Nebraska in the Orange Bowl.

Wide Right II: No. 2 Miami 19, No. 3 Florida State 16 (1992)

What happened: The Seminoles (4-0) and Hurricanes (3-0) hooked up earlier in the season the following year, but it ended with the same result. Dan Mowrey missed a 39-yard field goal in the final minute.
Aftermath: Miami's bid for back-to-back national championships ended with a Sugar Bowl loss to No. 2 Alabama. Florida State finished 11-1 and beat No. 11 Nebraska in the Orange Bowl.

Wide Right III: No. 7 Miami 27, No. 1 Florida State 24 (2000)
What happened: Florida State (5-0) and Miami (3-1) met on the same intense stage, and this time Matt Munyon missed a 49-yard attempt as time expired.

Wide Left: No. 1 Miami 28, No. 9 Florida State 27 (2002)

What happened: The Seminoles (5-1) threatened to upset the defending national champion Hurricanes (5-0), but Miami rallied behind two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Xavier Beitia missed a 43-yarder as time expired.
Aftermath: Miami's bid for back-to-back BCS titles ended with a double-overtime loss to Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. Florida State finished 9-5 and lost the Sugar Bowl to No. 4 Georgia.

Wide Right IV: No. 10 Miami 16, No. 9 Florida State 14 (2003)

What happened: The teams met in the Orange Bowl. It wasn't a last-second field goal this time, but Beitia missed a 39-yarder that would've given Florida State the lead with 5:30 remaining.

Now that's the kind of kicking futility that will leave a mark.

Missing a field goal against Auburn last year near the end of the game, probably cost Bama a playoff spot,

Nah.

We needed Oklahoma to lose the Big 12 Championship Game as well.

I’ll never forget my dad lowering his head when he missed lol, he never gets emotional about these games but he was on the edge.

We then walked to the bathroom before overtime, ran into Charles Barkley who was wasted and kept saying, don’t worry guys I believe in y’all lol.

Amazingly we actually have pretty great indirect luck regarding field goals. If you were compiling a list of our the most important kicks in the Saban era in games that Bama wasnt in, youd see that most went our way

2011: Oklahoma State missing a field goal sending them to overtime against Iowa State (Led to national championship)

2011: Undefeated Boise State misses game winner against TCU. We probably get in over them anyways but who knows.

2012: Stanford hitting the game winner in overtime against Oregon (Led to championship)

2012: Pitt misses a game winner in Overtime against Notre Dame. If Pitt wins, Bama likely plays an Oregon team that was waaaay better than Notre Dame

There may be others as well

We still would have dominated the Championship Game.

I think so too. Still that Notre Dame team was by far the worst team Bama has played in a National Championship. We won the national championship the second that Georgia's Chris Conley caught that pass in the SECCG

Still, IMO, the worst"miss" FG of the kick 6 game was the decision to go for the first down on 4th and 1 from the AU 13 yard line, up 7 with 5 minutes to go.
Any team with any sort of a kicker puts your team up by two scores at that point.

Say that again so I can “like“ it again! I have been preaching that since the game. No faith in the kicker cost us that game.

IMO, the go for it on 4th down in that game has been Sabans worst game call decision since he's been at Alabama.
And that includes that retarded fake punt attempt in the Texas game in 09

actually, if the punter throws the ball where and how it should have been, dre probably scores a td on that play. so i for one am perfectly fine with it and the 4th down play against the barn. cns doesn't do any of these things willy-nilly.
