Jedrick Wills, RT -- Evan Neal
Neal’s natural position is at tackle. He arrived at Alabama as the nation’s No. 1-rated offensive tackle in the 2019 recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite. Neal could follow in Alex Leatherwood’s footsteps and move back to tackle after a season at guard and give UA a pair of former 5-star prospects as the bookends on its offensive line. But that still leaves a spot to fill. Who would replace Neal at left guard? Emil Ekiyor seems like a good candidate there, as the redshirt sophomore is more than capable of playing multiple interior positions.

quote:
Raekwon Davis, DE -- Christian Barmore
LaBryan Ray and DJ Dale will be back for another year, and both players should be healthy in 2020. So, Davis is the lone starter that will need to be replaced. Several young players received valuable playing time at defensive end this past season, including then-freshmen Byron Young and Justin Eboigbe, but with Barmore providing the Tide with an interior pass rush, he gets the nod here in these way-too-early predictions. Recording 2.0 sacks and 6.0 tackles for loss as a redshirt freshman in 2019, Barmore should see his numbers improve in 2020.

quote:
Anfernee Jennings, JACK -- King Mwikuta
Mwikuta is a player that generated some buzz toward the end of the season. A true freshman in 2019, he played in 10 games as a reserve at outside linebacker and a contributor on special teams. With Alabama losing both of its starters at Jack and Sam linebacker, some of the team’s young guys will need to step up, and according to Jennings, Mwikuta is one to watch. “King’s definitely somebody to watch out for,” Jennings said. “He’s just a hardworking kid, smart and just freakish athletic. Just be on the lookout for him. He loves the game.”

quote:
Terrell Lewis, SAM -- Christopher Allen
Lewis was one of two starters on the defensive side of the football that chose not to play in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan. With Lewis out of the lineup, Allen received an opportunity down in Orlando and seems like the logical choice to step back into a starting role. More than a year removed from an ACL injury, Allen registered 11 tackles last season and 4.5 of them were for a loss. Both Allen and Mwikuta will have to hold off their returning teammates and the bevy of talented freshmen, but they should get the first cracks at the pair of openings.

quote:
Trevon Diggs, CB -- Josh Jobe
The other starter that skipped the bowl game was Diggs, and he was replaced by Jobe. The then-sophomore entered the 2019 season as a starter in the Tide secondary, but a hand injury and emotional play kept him on the sideline save for his special teams duties and opportunities as a reserve. Now that Diggs has moved on, however, Jobe will be Alabama’s top option at corner, outside of its returning starter. A player considered the hardest-hitting defensive back on the team, Jobe can lock down a starting role if he can keep his emotions in check.

quote:
Xavier McKinney, FS -- Jordan Battle
McKinney was one of six underclassmen that elected to enter the draft after the 2019 season, and that means the Tide is losing its leading tackler and one of its most consistent performers on defense. It will be difficult to replace what McKinney meant to the 2019 defense, but Battle is a player that showed a ton of promise this past year, playing as the sixth defensive back during dime looks as a true freshman -- on top of playing on all four special teams units. Entering his second year at UA, Battle will be asked to be one of the leaders in the secondary.

quote:
Jared Mayden, SS -- Daniel Wright
Mayden running out of eligibility means Alabama will have to replace both of its starting safeties this offseason. Battle is poised to claim one of the roles, and the other could be filled by Wright, who actually started in place of Mayden in the Arkansas game. Wright will be a redshirt junior in 2020 and will not have a better chance to claim a starting role than this summer.
“Jordan Battle will probably step up and play one of the safety spots,” Mayden said. “Daniel Wright, I’m looking for him to step up. Everybody there right now has a chance. DeMarcco Hellams has a good shot -- a guy that can play Money in the dime package.”

quote:
Shyheim Carter, STAR -- Jalyn Armour-Davis
Alabama will have options when it comes to the cornerback and Star positions. Patrick Surtain II is the lone returning starter and Jobe received playing time with the ones this past season, but the former can play both cornerback and Star. If Surtain stays at corner, the Tide can play Jobe on the opposite side of the field and bring a guy like Armour-Davis on in nickel and dime. But if Surtain moves inside to Star, a player like junior college transfer Ronald Williams could play on the boundary opposite Jobe. Those are a couple of directions Alabama could go.

Objectively looking at LSU, I see them as a 9-3 team next year. I’d say vs Georgia would be slightly tougher than LSU, even if it is at Tiger Stadium.

Agreed. Bama owns Tiger Stadium

I agree 9-3, 8-4 possibly.

They will probably lose Texas, at Florida, Alabama, at Auburn, and possibly to Texas A&M. How would 7-5 play in Baton Rouge for Eaux and Feaux Pelini?

You're better than me. I have no faith in Texas or A&M. I agree with you regarding the other games.

Can y’all believe this year will be the 20th anniversary of Derrick Thomas’ death?

This was posted on bol about najee "Has been a different beast since he decided to come back to bama for his senior year. I have talked to two people and both brought him up without me even mentioning him, talking about he how he is in the weight room or practice fields every single day by himself grinding. He is also on a very good meal plan (like a lot of players) but this is new for Najee. Sounds to me like he got a little bit of a wake up call. The dude is probably the most pure athletic back Alabama has had in the saban era and is not only buying into the program but buying into what he can become if he works hard for it. He’s got people around the program glowing about him."
