Unlike Ruggs, Najee will probably not be able to boost his stock by posting a fast 40 time. Perhaps his reasoning is that with Mac Jones at QB Bama will rely more on the run next year? But he'll have to share time with Trey Sanders and that could affect his stats. Seems to me (i.e. NOT a draft pundit) like the Michigan game was his best audition.

Yea, it's just hard to see a reason for him to return, outside of having a full season of monster like he did the last half of 2019. Even then, his general traits aren't going to change.

Damn, SoG, you’re fast. ESPN lists him as a sophomore but I know at the beginning of the year they were talking about him as a freshman. Is he eligible to draft?

I think there's at least one pretty valid reason, his place on the RB board.

Firmly behind Dobbins, Swift, and Etienne
Likely behind Taylor and Hubbard
Potentially behind Akers

It's a deep RB class. Another good season here could catapult him to RB1. He isn't going to run a great 40 but he doesn't have to either, that's been proven at the position. Ingram ran a 4.62 and went in the first, I think Najee can run a 4.60-4.65

Right, that is a good point. I haven't looked at next year but I can't imagine it's going to be this deep.

It just sounds to me like he wants to be gone, and generally when that is the situation guys end up being gone.

Kindley declared for the NFL for Georgia. They've now lost 3 of their 5 OL.

I agree with you 100% but the only two guys on that list who haven't declared yet are Etienne and Hubbard. I guess he could be waiting to see what they do, but it would be shocking if both return. Najee is in a tough spot for sure. As I understand it he does not exactly come from a wealthy background, but another year potentially makes him the 1st or 2nd RB off the board instead of the 5th or 6th. That's several million dollars right there.

T-Watts Nugz - keep in mind nobody on the BOL stuff every ran with any of the "rumors" previously, so just something to consider when deciding how much to trust this stuff........

quote:

**Didn't want to put out any misleading information on Najee but here is what we know after 24 hours of digging. Sources close to Najee said was leaning towards going pro but wanted to talk to Saban first. The same source told us it wasn't as simple as to let Saban know he was leaving it was to discuss his options. Which means he was more open to returning than many expected. Najee talked to Saban and is now "thinking hard about what he wants to do." There has been no decision date in mind and it could come at any moment. But this is much more in the air that expected. I don't have any prediction one way or the other. Najee is another kid who isn't going to tell a lot of people his business. but it should play out this week I imagine.

As to the NFL feedback he got a "return to school grade" which means not a 1st or 2nd rounder. Which most probably knew already. Doesn't mean he couldn't go in the 2nd. The individual feedback I've got from NFL office personal is he could easily go 3rd round or slip to the 4th. Most believe he's not a RB1 but he is a NFL back. Also the jury is split on what returning his senior year would mean. Most think he could improve his stock with a consistent year from USC to end of season. Others think "he is what he is." So a lot of uncertainty around Najee. Testing/ interviews would be huge for him if he goes IMO.

I have confirmed with multiple people that Saban would welcome Najee back with open arms as would the rest of the coaching staff.

**Spoke to multiple sources on Henry Ruggs and all indicated this was a family decision and the decision was made before the Friday night deal with Mack Wilson. The same sources indicated Mack had nothing to do with Henry’s decision to go pro. He will be a first round pick and his contract will be worth a lot of money. That’s what influenced his decision. Financial security.

My sauces are now not 100% about Mack sinking the Titanic or killing Kennedy. They are now around 73.4%.

However, they are all in agreement that Mack killed the dinosaurs. 110% agreement. No fluids

Anybody got any thoughts on Najee returning or staying?

I think he leaves. RBs have a short shelf life and I think he has from day 1 only planned on staying 3 years. His draft projection has been the only thing that given him pause on that decision but I ultimately think he wants to leave and will.

well if he stays, it keeps k rob off the field another year. which isnt a good thing. on the other hand, it returns a stud workhorse. hmm...
