Best thing about a qb like milroe is not necessarily the big spactacula runs, but the times when they steal the 3rd and 5 when the defence otherwise has it perfectly defended

Agreed that Milroe possesses the kind of speed that scares the shite out of DCs

Between a couple of A-Days and the Arkansas game, he has a LOT of monster carries in limited snaps. It’s not just speed, it’s playmaking ability

I’ll choose to be cautiously optimistic. No good reason not to be

If Milroe can be just an average to above average passer, he could win SEC OPOY

I think we're being a little too hard on Milroe for that Texas A&M game. He was a game time decision, running plays that were designed for Bryce Young, against a unit that finished #1 in the nation in passing defense last year. He was a redshirt freshman starting his first collegiate game against a very talented team (though their record didn't show it) and he came out with a W. ETA: And judging by all the downvotes we have a bunch of pussies that are bleeding this morning. You guys are way too emotional.

Yesterday I was pretty pessimist about Milroe, and the rest for that matter, but you make some really good points here.

And who ever noted that Milroe has speed that teams can’t prep for… that should not be an under appreciated statement. That is a huge, huge, huge factor.

It’s not the A&M game for me. It’s the terrible throw from his end zone at A-day. That is an anti Jalen Hurts decision.

I should say, I will wait and see what happens. No matter what, there is absolutely no way Reese will not put him in a better position than BoB.

If you go back and watch the AM game Milroe had like 5 big runs on AM. When they played man he shredded them down the seam twice and then threw Latu a touchdown.

It’s like I said from practice on the tuck and run drills. He is wicked fast. It surprised me.

And every team in America has watched that A&M game and will be totaly prepared for him running. He's going to need to show that he can process coverages and distribute the ball with accuracy.

Lol. Y’all really don’t know football if you think one game of film on a QB who wasn’t ready is going to allow opposing teams to shut him down.

1. We have a new offensive coordinator.
2. Milroe has worked all offseason to be the starter.
3. Our receivers are better.
4. Our running game will be more of a focus

Just because a team knows he can run doesn’t mean they can stop it.

On any given team there is probably 2 guys on their defense who can catch Milroe in the open field, if that.

He’s dangerous. If he makes some throws early they will absolutely respect him.

Boz you have said on here from your scrimmage reports that he showed very little improvement in processing coverages and throwing the ball with accuracy. You said he still wants to go to his 1st read and when it's not there he takes off and runs? If you don't think D1 coordinators are gonna be prepared for that then I don't know what to tell you guys. He 100% is gonna have to show the ability to process coverages and distribute the ball with accuracy. Otherwise, this offense will not be successful.

The scrimmage was heavily scripted. It limited his ability to do anything. With that said if you read back he made some good deep throws but yes did telegraph the short ones. Had one bad throw to the outside.

Yesterday he looked sharp.

How many teams out there have a guy on the roster that can play QB and run as fast as Milroe? You can claim you’re “prepared for him” all you want, until you find yourself in a foot race with him

Same thing happened to guys that thought they knew Henry was running the ball. They quickly realized he could outrun their angles. JaMo was the same as well. It only takes a bad angle being taken 2-3 plays, and suddenly that’s 14-21 more pts your offense has to match. Suddenly you’re more worried about him taking off and that the second he tucks it your PTSD from a big play earlier causes you to hesitate just enough to give the WR plenty of space for Jalen to make an easy throw for a big play

Obviously just talking about it is one thing and they have to execute, but if defenses don’t remain disciplined against us this year he definitely has the capability of making them pay for it

You may have said this before and I didn’t see it but are we running a lot more RPO with Milroe?

In practice they ran RPO, under center, and shotgun. Lots of looks.

What I found frustrating watching Bryce the last two seasons is that he is an athletic guy but we didn’t call many designed runs for him or allowed him to run like he’s capable of. Maybe that was to protect him. Milroe is bigger and stronger but Bryce is an athletic player himself.

What makes me happy is that all four of the quarterbacks can run this offense IMO and all are athletic.

"Milroe need to make faster reads". I suppose it's a fair critique but it's a lazy critique. Bryce Young processed the game faster than anyone that's ever walked through those halls, yet he had to walk on water most of the time just to complete a pass. We got smoked by Herndon Hooker last year who was dreadful the year before. Did he magically start reading defenses or was he throwing to wide open receivers. I guess I'll concede Milroe needing to make faster reads to anyone who'll concede that our coaching staff needs to improve the scheme. I trust that we'll see both on Saturday.

Hooker had already graduated and was able to devote his full time to the playbook.

Being prepared is one thing, being able to stop it consistently is quite another entirely.

Case in point, Derrick Henry against Wisconsin in 2015. It's 4th and 1 and the Badgers have literally all eleven men on the line because they KNOW that Henry is going to get the ball. That doesn't stop Henry from turning that fourth and short play into a 40+ yard touchdown run.
