Nate Oats said he doesn't believe Kira Lewis and John Petty will hire agents until their know their status.

"They're talking to agents, getting feedback on how this process is going to look. ... They're both smart kids."

Oats definitely needs to keep Shack out of the dang portal.

Both players are expected to leave the door open for a possible return to Alabama by not signing with an agent. That will give each player until May 29 to decide whether they want to withdraw their name and be eligible to play in the NCAA’s 2020-21 season.

Of course, that deadline could be altered by the COVID-19 outbreak. The NBA has suspended all of its games due to the pandemic and has not come to a decision when play will resume. It’s also not clear what effect the delay will have on the draft, which is set for June 25. The NBA Combine is scheduled to be held from May 21-24 in Chicago.

In reference to Kira and Petty.

I was hoping a reporter would get Oats to say how many guys he was looking to bring in during the spring but I haven't seen that mentioned.

The shutdown is really hampering recruiting. I know it’s across the board but I really think Nate and Hodgson would be racking up the miles and busting their arse trying to land kids if they could.

I haven’t seen a number mentioned but my impressions are as many as he can. I think he would keep a place for Kira, Petty, Herb, Shack and Q. I think anybody else, if he can trade up, he will.

Somebody may have already posted it but Oats said today he expects that next years roster will look “significantly different”

I'm still quite optimistic that Nate Oats will be what this program needs in a coach, but regardless, so far I'm impressed with his passion, his analytics, and how candidly he speaks to the media and in public.

He seems like he gets as exasperated as the fans do with poor results, pores over the relevant data, and wants to work his rear end off to try fix it.

Let's hope he succeeds.

I would say Jimmy is better than alright at the mid range game and on defense.

It also helps when you are a pg with essentially the wingspan of a PF.

What makes you say this? He did great under Oats this year and I can't think of any reason he would leave?

He and Herb Jones remind me of each other in a lot of ways, both are good at about everything else but neither could hit a three to save their lives.

The only thing I say positive about that is he knows it and sticks to what he can do well. Had one 3pt attempt all year and I believe it was a the buzzer around half court.
