Vaughn called Murph one of the best softball coaches in the country. He's clearly an idiot. Rescind his contract and give JJ the job.

Obvious kidding, not about the Murph part, but I'm optimistic about the hire.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama's Andrew Pinckney and Luke Holman were named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Southeast Region Team for Division I, the ABCA announced.

Pinckney was tabbed to the first team while Holman garnered second-team honors. The duo are the first Crimson Tide players to be named to the ABCA's All-Region Team since 2021 when Chase Lee and Peyton Wilson were both selected as first-teamers.

I wish this surprised me

One of the top power threats in the country who led UA in home runs and slugging percentage
Totaled 25 homers to set the Alabama freshman single-season record and tie for third on Alabama’s single-season list
Tied Charlie Condon of Georgia for the SEC single-season freshman home run record
Recorded six two-homer games on the year while homering in back-to-back contests on five separate occasions

Hate that Vaughn is having to start like this but maybe it will be for the best. Just wish he would have SOME pieces to build around

IDK but a couple months ago I had read and put on here what Tanner Logan (ex MSU player) said was many kids plan these days … put up numbers as a freshman and jump in the portal to see what is offered . Figure he will end up at a Florida school . Sure hate it but have been worried about it all year

Let’s see where he winds up. As much as it pains me (and this is just my speculation), he’s probably forking over money to go to Bama as a baseball player paying out of state tuition. He can go just about anywhere else for school and pocket some money along the way. I read he’s draft eligible after next year (haven’t researched it).

Held out hope the new coach’s emphasis on hitting might lure him into staying another year. With Bama being a true 11.7 scholarship program, this is the mountain Coach Vaughn has to climb.

What a kick in the crotch. I hate it, but I get it. He will probably get a lot of $ from a program that plays the NIL game better. I am confident though that the new hire will make our current roster and the new ones coming in even better.

I think there is a waiver for athletes with this out of state tuition stuff. I could be wrong though. This is about NIL money is my guess. We see it more in FB and basketball but apparently it is now going to happen in baseball at Bama

What about other SEC schools?

The ones I hear most often are the two Mississippi schools and Arkansas. The other SEC schools have instate lotteries that can free up the 11.7 scholarships for out of state students.

UA’s student body growth has come largely from out of state students and they can’t selectively waive out of state tuition just for athletes. (And they don't want a lenient waiver policy as they rely on those out of state dollars).
