Only the second time in program history that #Alabama Baseball has hit grand slams in three consecutive games.
The only other instance was in 2000.

Some Bama Baseball Trivia from the Tuscaloosa News
quote:
Riley Quick and Alton Davis are two of Alabama baseball's top freshman pitchers, but they're not the only Crimson Tide athletes in the family.
Quick's brother, Pierce, was a five-star offensive lineman who played three seasons of football at Alabama, including winning two SEC championships and the 2020 national championship, before transferring to Georgia Tech prior to the 2022 season. Davis' older sister, Kayla Davis, played three seasons as an outfielder on the softball team, winning the 2021 SEC championship and making it to the Women's College World Series twice.

I'm glad we are 11-0 and we seem to be playing well, but the OOC scheduling this year is an embarrassment.

We had Pepperdine on there, but the weather didn't cooperate.

Pepperdine is a cool trip but they aren't a very good baseball program

Is it smart to do that baseball? Baseball still seems to rely on old metrics like RPI which is almost guaranteed to be strong in the SEC.

We're gonna step into the box in Gainesville in a few weekends and see arms of a caliber we haven't come close to seeing in 6 weeks of preseason play. That's an absolute disadvantage.
There's a reason almost every other SEC program is playing at least 1 series/tournament against NCAA caliber big conference teams. It's to prepare their guys for conference play.

Thought we were gonna have a huge inning there. Hammy may have been a little greedy :)

I know these select early season tournaments are more invite based, so if we can’t get into one of those that’s fine, but I agree that our schedule lacks any oomph until we get to SEC ball and then it’s show up or shut up at that point.

Exactly. We don't need to play elite teams every weekend, but 1-2 series against ACC/B12 teams would seem to be the sweet spot.
Playing northern mid-majors in February and early March is just a waste of time. We aren't even playing solid Southern middies, either. No good solid AAC/Sun Belt programs. I'm glad we are taking care of business - that matters - but I just don't understand the method of scheduling unless your main goal is padding the record with wins, even if they earn no credit with the committee in May.

Riley Quick can't throw a strike to save his life.
