Could Jason Jackson be Alabama baseball's permanent coach?

Greg Byrne: "Jason Jackson has done a great job."

"He did a wonderful job from the very first meeting with the team and has continued. I've been around them a lot and have been very pleased with the job he has done"

Haven’t decided if I want to bring a cooler and a chair and hope for the best or just sit in my designated seats on the RF line

Thoughts?

Is the Terrace going to be stupid packed? What’s it been like for bigger series this year?

Didn’t realize he was in the portal and he’s already committed to FSU

Well that sucks. He was ranked pretty highly in last year's class.

He saw some playing time and would have stood a good chance of taking over for Tommy in left field next year. He’s from Florida and I read where his siblings attended FSU. He must have wanted to go home.

Can’t find much on the baseball transfer portal but read on a board that another redshirt pitcher was in the portal. (edit: Gavin Jones)

Guys don’t want to be patient especially when they see an opportunity to jump in immediately elsewhere.

But we had Tommy and Caden injured in the SEC tournament and we moved Ed Johnson into the outfield. That kind of tells you where this guy probably is on the pecking order.

He may be the first but definitely won’t be the last. The portal will fill up again!

We need to hit the portal hard ourselves after we lose Jarvis, Seidl, Pinckney, Williamson, Hamiter, McMillan and McNairy.

Have to bring in a head man who can navigate the portal and replace these key contributors.

That's my one concern with promoting Jackson.

After 20+ years as an assistant coach, Jackson is finally getting his opportunity in the most prestigious conference in the sport — and he’s taking full advantage.

Jackson is doing a good job, but honestly this is a veteran team and anyone not betting against them would probably be able to get wins from this club.

Unless Jackson takes us to the CWS I feel like you need to go get a proven head coach. I still like Godwin but McDonnell is intriguing. My only concern there is he is already 61 years old.

It will definitely be a difficult decision for Byrne. Jackson has done a tremendous job. But I know everyone wants to be consistent in baseball again. Can’t make a hire just because of a great run at the end or holding together a single recruiting class.

I'm kinda in the same boat. I appreciate the job he's done but I wonder how much it's him and how much of it is a veteran and very motivated team playing (especially without being bet against now internally).

It's a tough decision, you would essentially be banking on this hot streak they're on as an investment with this guy for the next 3+ years.
