Some excerpts from a write up on two Bama signees.

Tuscaloosa baseball players ready to begin college careers at Alabama

Two Tuscaloosa baseball players played on a youth baseball team with uniforms similar to Alabama baseball's threads. They won't imagine playing in Alabama's uniforms much longer because they report to campus July 27.

Alabama signees and American Christian Academy baseball grads Hunter Sute and Nathan Shelton just finished All-State seasons and get to play together again for the Crimson Tide.

Shelton had multiple one-hit games at ACA, a 2.36 ERA during his senior season and threw a no-hitter against Hillcrest. Shelton was also a reliable hitter and may play both ways at Alabama after discussing it with Alabama coach Brad Bohannon.

"I talked to coach Bohannon about being a two-way guy," Shelton said. "He said, 'I’ll let anyone be a two-way guy.' It’s just up to them because it’s hard. All hitters do is they hit and they work on that. Pitchers, all they do is pitch and they work on that. So it’s hard to be a two-way guy, but I feel like I can do it."

Playing youth and high school sports together is not rare for two athletes, but taking it to the college level is, and Sute and Shelton look forward to another partnership.

Sute's parents went to Alabama and he grew up going to Alabama football and baseball games. He is adjusting to his dream turned reality and thankful for the opportunity to continue his career.

Sute hit .504 with seven home runs. Sute said he's eager to do what he can to help his teammates get better and Alabama win.

LSU hired Jay Johnson of Arizona. One of the last hires Greg Byrne made as AD at Arizona. Maybe it bodes well for Bohannon. Eventually.

And then there were four:

Friday, June 25
Game 11: NC State vs. Vanderbilt | 2 p.m. ET | ESPN2
Game 12: Mississippi State vs. Texas | 7 p.m. | ESPN

Vandy and Texas need two wins to advance. State and State are just one win away from advancing to the finals.

NC State facing COVID-19 issues, forcing delay of College World Series game against Vanderbilt

A key NC State player will not be available for the Wolfpack's push toward its first ever College World Series title and another has been placed in quarantine while the school and the NCAA are scrambling to assess others on the team, delaying the start of Game 11 between NC State and Vanderbilt.

Starting second baseman JT Jarrett and bullpen ace Evan Justice are out for the semifinal matchup against the Commodores due to COVID-19-related issues. A source described Jarrett as "no longer with the team" while Justice was still in Omaha but placed in quarantine. ESPN first learned of a positive test concerning Jarrett on Friday morning. Both players were absent as the team arrived at Omaha's TD Ameritrade Park for pregame warmups and took to the field around 1 p.m. ET ahead of the first pitch, originally scheduled for one hour later.

NC State would not release names, but did issue this statement: "An undisclosed number of players from the team have been put into COVID-19 protocol and will be unavailable for today's game. NC State, the NCAA and appropriate parties are working together to monitor the situation."

Looks like the game is about to start. NC State with 13 players total. Three of today’s starters have played a combined 8 games this season.

So they have a full stadium of fans who don't have to test or prove they are vaccinated and the NCAA makes the healthiest people in the building sit out over something they have virtually nothing to fear from.

Jesus.

Please break up this idiotic organization.

NC State out of College World Series due to COVID-19 issues; Vanderbilt to finals

Eleven hours after North Carolina State took the field at the College World Series with a depleted roster because of COVID-19-related issues, the Wolfpack found out their season was over.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday morning, the NCAA Division I baseball committee declared Saturday's winner-take-all bracket final between NC State and Vanderbilt a no contest due to COVID-19 protocols, putting the Commodores into the CWS championship round.

Vanderbilt will face the winner of Saturday night's bracket final between Texas and Mississippi State.

That’s some BS right there. Those kids sacrificed a lot to make it to this point, and a bunch of old dudes took it away from them. If Vandy wins it all…I am calling for either a make up series with State or an asterisk.

For those who can’t understand it:

I was channeling my inner WillieT.

You'd kind of hope there'd be a contingency plan or something for a situation like this. You know, like not a 2am "k, leave."

If I were a Vandy player, I’d feel a little embarrassed to win this way.

It really is one of the more ridiculous things I’ve seen from the NCAA. And there’s a long arse list of stupid things they’ve done.

It's still bullshite that Vandy got to keep Leiter fresh by not playing today.

State is at a huge disadvantage going into this series.
