Another step forward. Even with the glaring issues and sour finish.
Yep
2018 : 27-29 (8-22) (No SECT)
2019 : 30-26 (7-23) (No SECT)
2021 : 31-23 (14-19) (Hoover)
Need next year to be something like 34-18 (15-15) heading into Hoover.

Yep - just don't have the horses (pitching or hitting).

I don't think it will. It would be disappointing to not win 2-3 more next year and get to the NCAA Tournament, but Bo's recruiting has steadily gotten better and better and the classes that will be freshmen in 2022 and 2023 are both ranked in the Top 15. I'm not sure that we'll have depth of enough top level players next year to be a ton better than we are this year. We should be better, because all these guys will have another year and we get Jean back, but we still have a lot of guys with lower ceilings than the elite part of the league.
So, long story short IMHO, next year is about comfortably making the NCAAT. Anything past that is gravy. The only thing that would concern me is if we took a major step back and had an 2021 Auburn like season. That would be a problem.

if we took a major step back ...This
We Assume the next step to be a positive one but it's not a given.
Is the program pretty much where we will stay...good but not great? We'll see.

The guys exceeded my expectations in Hoover, but what a way to go out......

Alabama Baseball's Brad Bohannon: "I Think We're a No. 2 Seed"
SEC Tournament post game press conference: Coach Bohannon, Will Freeman, Sam Praytor

Bo has done everything that has been expected of him since he took over a dumpster fire. It’s been a positive step every year. If he hadn’t lost Prielipp, this season would have no doubt been even better. Patience. If we take a step back, i can understand the grumbling but so far we haven’t. Let’s see where Bo can take us.

people keep saying he took over a dumpster fire from a coach who was at Bama only one year. How much can you really screw up a place after one year compared to what all the Mike's did at Bama in FB before NS arrived.
Can anyone be specific of what he did that people keep using a dumpster fire about

Greg Goff torpedoed the roster and alienated the recruiting base. Simple as that.
Who he couldn’t run off. He threatened to pull their scholarship or funding. It’s why he was fired by Byrne rather quickly after becoming AD.

He ran off half the roster and signed something like 25 guys, half of them JuCo guys. He burned the roster (which wasn't great to begin with) to the ground.
He filled the roster with the equivalent of low level Sun Belt talent. Meanwhile Thompson was at Auburn getting started and signing every good player in the state.

I think people underestimate just how difficult baseball recruiting is beyond just the issues of scholarship allotment and getting guys to sign vs. go pro. There's so much more volatility for baseball players in terms of how they will respond to moving up to the next level in competition. You see it all the time in the minors. Dudes rake in A and A+ but fall apart in AA, there are hundreds of AAAA players out there, the bust rate for even top 20 draft picks is extremely high, etc. Combined with how far behind we were/are, that leaves basically no margin for error on evaluations and no wiggle room in terms of shooting for the moon with elite players who are like 98% pro locks.

Yea there were like 4 upsets in conference championships yesterday so conferences that were planning only sending 1 team are now probably getting two bids.
Oh well. We gave it a run.

That's what happens when you find yourself sitting on the Bubble; you are subject to the outcome and upsets in other tournaments. Maybe we will be surprised and we make it in, but I'm not holding my breath. What a gut punch to end the season.

Samford won the SOCON and I am not sure if this was a surprise win or not?
