I can’t see a “name” school offering Pearl right now with all the baggage he and the program have right now, especially with the FBI thing not over yet. The jobs that are / will be open sans UCLA will be bc of scandal and not sure he is clean enough right now

You may be right but I could also see him being a replacement hire. Buzz Williams to A&M, Pearl to Va Tech. Or Beard to (fill in the blank) Pearl to Texas Tech. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

It kills me to see them higher on the basketball food chain than Bama when that job has been a coach’s graveyard my entire life. Whenever they started winning before, they were cheating and everyone knew it so the NCAA would visit shorty thereafter. From Sonny Smith to Tommy Jo Eagles to Cliff Ellis to Jeff Lebo, they all had their NCAA issues. You couldn’t win down there any other way. They were a basketball backwater. So this run is difficult to swallow. I’m ready for it to end.

I hear ya

I meant schools like Arizona, Kansas, UCLA. Just can’t see them offering him but I could be wrong. If he comes out at the end of the season and says something like “ happy at Auburn” or this is where I want to be for a long time it is prolly bc nobody wants to take a chance on him yet.

They have no bigs now,

They have Spencer and Wiley. Okeke was a swing man. He had size, but not really an inside big. He's a huge loss though. He's probably been their MVP, next to Harper, in the last 3/4 of the season when they've been playing lights out.

Duke would dominate them.

I think the only teams that would pose problems for AU right now are Gonzaga and Michigan State. AU is playing the best basketball in the tourney right now. They play like they did last night every game, and they win the whole thing. Question will be can they keep that going without Okeke.

Not many on this board hate AU more than I and that started in 1957. You have to take your hat off for what Pearl and the Barn have done this season. His record vs Bama is 6-5 since he got the whistle but he has them playing for that big ole trophy as of today. He is a sleazy as they come but he can coach them up and he can recruit.

It is Ok to give the other fella credit....Aight

Just heard they’ve diagnosed Okeke with a bone bruise, no tears as of now. There’s a chance he can play.

This Auburn team is a tale of 2 seasons. At midpoint of season they were middle of road SEC team, some say underachieving, played like crap in Coleman few weeks ago but of course Bama played worse.
Bottom line they are peaking & finally playing at a high level at the right time, close to making history on the plains.

They reported it on ESPNU radio this morning. Can’t link it. Just sharing what they said. A lot of people were concerned about the kid when they saw what happened. Sounds like they are cautiously optimistic about him.

Now Yahoo just reported an ACL tear. That sounds more believable unfortunately.

A lot of that success came at a time when Kentucky was having its worst years in its history.

They’re gonna win the national title. They’re slaying blue bloods and Virginia is next. We can say, “well, they won’t beat Duke” but they’ve proven they can beat anyone that they face.

They'll beat Virginia, but I'm not sure they can beat Michigan St. or Duke.

They probably will win the title. Maybe it will turn them into a basketball school though?
