Also, when we finally did make 3s, we totally abandoned attempting it.

Yeah, well I'm not sure that was a decision we made on our on. I don't remember our shooters passing up any open threes.

Our offense definitely works at an extremely high level most of the time.

One weakness with our current roster though is that we have too many players on the perimeter that should certainly have the green light to take 3 pointers for most of the game to make the offensive scheme work.

However, they aren't really the guys you love taking them in crunch time. (Grant, Jarin, Philon, Diabate). They kind of know that too for the most part and pass them up. Each of those guys did pass up 2-3 very open 3s down the stretch yesterday.

Maybe rightly so. But when you do that it makes it easier for the defense to key in on Sears, Holloway or Youngblood not getting open looks.

Not to defend Sears who also just takes off on an ill fated drive often enough on his own, but I think that does play a part in some of his questionable decision making in trying to "put the team on his shoulders".

Last year, when we were playing our best in the tournament, we had Rylan but Grant and Jarin were both a lot more confident shooting 3s late in games. They made some big ones too.

A big problem with Sears is without Wrightsell and Mallette their isn’t enough spacing in our offense.

Last year we could put 4 shooters at a time on the floor and Sears had a lot of room to work. We only got 3 reliable shooters on the whole team available now. And someone is usually on the bench for rest.

What’s wild is we were shooting really well in warmups and they weren’t. But when the lights came on it completely flipped.

Had a neutral basketball fan with me at the game and he asked why all the AU players were taking half court shots at the end of their shootaround 30 min before the game (Bama had already gone back to the locker room). I told him one thing Bruce is really good at is keeping his guys loose. They were having fun and were relaxed, and our guys looked completely serious with a laser focus (partly looked like nervous energy).

Lights came on, and the moment was clearly too big for Sears and especially Holloway. Even MoD, who I thought would be the least impacted by the moment given how he plays, air-balled a free throw short. Guys were too tight and the pressure was ultimately too much to beat a team as good as this year’s AU team.

It’s been posted, but we would be absolutely thrilled with this season so far if it wasn’t for the fact that our biggest rival was the best team in the country. A 2 seed all but locked in with a 1 seed very much attainable, that’s still an insanely good season right now. We had the #1 overall 2 years ago, and I’m not going to let AU getting the #1 overall cause me to not enjoy this team and what it’s accomplishing!

Yes you have a clue because you said...

they don’t care.

That's it in a nutshell. Byrne and the athletic department don't give a shite about the fans.

I posted this a couple of weeks ago after the sales tax debacle:

Byrne has certainly had some successes at Alabama, but his continued tone deaf mentality toward the fans now has me seriously questioning his competence. The pitch to hard working fans to contribute their hard earned dollars to NIL was bad enough. Fans have complained long and loud about the atrocious concessions experience at BDS and CC, but does he care? Hell no. And now this. Eventually, demand for season tickets will plummet, if it hasn't already.

That's why I would've pulled Naas Cunningham redshirt quickly. We need more shooters on the floor!

Possibly a few more times... and I agree. After removing emotion and watching the game a 2nd time, I came away with the same general feeling. We beat them in areas most teams can't. Comfortable lead in overall rebounding margin, doubled them in offensive rebounds and got to the line more even in an effort where we were sending them to the line late in the game to try and chip away. We shot the ball poorly, but we didn't lose the game because of shooting poorly. We lost the game because we gave up 94 points.
