I would think most people expect a two game improvement from year one to year two. Which is reasonable. That would put us at 10-2 and in the playoff.
With such a high number of guys returning, especially on defense, 10-2 seems like an attainable result even with the tough schedule.
If the starter at QB can actually see the guys that DeBoer schemes wide the frick open pretty much every play, I 'Bama should be hard to stop. Miller and Young as 1-2 punch at RB should be a nice upgrade over Haynes as well.

I think you're grossly underestimating the expectations of the Bama fanbase for next season. If he misses the playoffs his seat will get hotter than an August summer day in Tuscaloosa.
What the fanbase thinks doesn't matter at all. The University simply does not have the money to pay his buyout, his staff's buyout, and whatever it would take to go hire another elite coach. And that'll probably be true for several more years. Guy is owed 90% of whatever remains of his contract if he's fired without cause.

Oh I agree, regardless of his record he's not going anywhere after next season. It will be AT LEAST after year three before anything like that is entertained. But just because someone isn't fired doesn't mean their azz isn't smoking hot from the heat they're getting from the fans and media.

The fan base doesn’t have the power it thinks it has. Unless Jethro in Sulligent wants to chip in to pay the buyout.

If CKD loses to Vanderbilt, a shitty team like Oklahoma, and offense looks completely lost - yeah he’ll be gone. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

Like hell they don't. Just let the stadium start being 40-50% empty and watch what happens. Money talks and bullchit walks. With the NIL Alabama cannot afford to lose one penny in revenue.

That would take more than a 9-3 season to happen.

Asses in seats don’t come close to being the primary funding source for any major sports, collegiate or pro.

Approximately $45,000,000 is grossed in ticket sales for total home games. If you don't think losing 40% of that wouldn't get azzes moving you're naive to how businesses function.
Posted on 1/14/25 at 10:40 am to NWLA_Bama
OK, how does that compare with the TV and merchandising revenue?

In no universe will there be an Alabama football home game where 40% of tickets go unsold. I don't care if went 0-12 next season the tickets are still going to get purchased for the games the season after.
Posted on 1/14/25 at 10:51 am to FightingOkra
That's not the point. The point is people hold a lot of power and authority, whether they decide to use it or not is a different story.
Posted on 1/14/25 at 10:57 am to InkStainedWretch
It doesn't matter, the college operates off of a budget where every dollar is budgeted. Their budget is dictated on previous years figures. They allocate dollars accordingly and begin spending money. Whether the ticket sales are less revenue than the tv money is irrelevant because the money from the tickets sales are budgeted to cover some expense. When that money doesn't come in those expenses aren't covered.

What does credible mean? Do think there is any media person that actually knows the answer to that?

What is the point of this thread? Nobody knows what's going to happen.
If “knowing what’s going to happen” is a prerequisite for a thread having a point, then…do any of them have a point?

I actually agree with the podcasters take. CKD showed he’s out of his league and if he doesn’t produce in 2025, he’s gone. Experiment over.

The low-IQ takes just keep getting worse. People that think Byrne and UA are just cool with lighting $60 million on fire and then paying whoever replaces DeBoer to come to 'Bama must not know what the hell they're talking about.
You think 'Bama is going to shite-can a coach in year two the way he's recruiting? He at least gets a season with Russel starting, which means year 3 is the earliest he can even think about being on the hot seat, and even then he would have to completely shite the bed.

Message board fans are at some point going to get the message that they are not going to get this guy fired.
